I'm OK with this. There were a few last year that were penalised and put on report that he later said shouldn't have because there was no "drop".
Players sometimes roll their ankles in rugby league. We don't have to punish someone for it every time.
Same for head clashes.
That wasn’t a hip drop.

Maybe not a classical one, but Bateman using his body weight on the back of the legs to bring him down is what caused the injury.

I'm confused now. We were talking about a Bateman tackle, and the was what Annersley talked about.
Fox were showing one by Api though which was way worse. Are they just **** stirring? Is the Api one from a different year or something?
... or was the Api one from earlier in the game and the NRL completely missed it? Api got him first and Bateman finished him off?

OK... figured it out. Api hip drop was in the 10th minute. Toby gets hit in the head and stays down. Nobody even bothered to check for hip drop.

More misdirection and confusion from the NRL.
We get a 10 minute explanation of the criteria for hip drops. They show one which doesn't quality but ignore one which quite clearly was.

Both Koroisau and Utoikamanu were hit with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact charge for a tackle they were both involved in, on Sharks forward Toby Rudolf.

I was confused because the Fox video was talking about Bateman while showing footage of the Api one.
Yeah I just looked at that also - looks like that's the tackle for both charged.
The Bateman one (which is the one that injured his ankle yeah? Or added to damage from this one) was deemed by NRL to not be traditional enough.
I haven't rewatched that one, Fox bungled that segment a bit.
