Think I said earlier that Toby should aim to become our new Fifita. If not, I'm saying it now ;)
He's getting the body shape, has decent footwork and speed and used to have an offload (?)
Seriously - I haven't seen anything close to him at his peak, including any of the best of the best from my youth, and believe me I have some heroes from years past...

He was one of a kind.

Kaufusi won’t be in the side much next year unless for injuries i reckon. Tommy has jumped in the queue.
I reckon we’ll see both of them a lot.

Tom does the obvious things better. Oregon better at some of the subtle things.

Imo Oregon was outstanding up until when BHU got injured. Plays a rotation/bench forward job well. Just couldn’t handle doing BHU’s job.

After writing this, fmd we are short in the forwards. We need a depth 2nd rower bad. And another forward who can play edge/middle.

Some say Talakai is this player.

Yeah for sure.

Nikora and Wilton both want 80.

Williams and Jesse C can and have played 2nd row and Talakai is a beast at 2nd row (I wish he was there permanently as he would be far more involved)

More depth then that and you are going to be spending big money on someone typically without a position.

At the moment they need to work more on finding an imposing prop.

Only reason I say this is because I just feel our coach is going to persist with talakai in the centres for another year.

What do you mean by this? Running more lines, making more tackles etc?

At centre he often takes more hitups in a game than any Sharks forward.

I think so too.

It may not mean anything, but early training photos have him grouped with the backs.

Man that 8-13 lineup is mid, those boys really need to step it up this season or we won’t be going anywhere near a semi-final

Uele in 2019 I think it was was picked for the kiwis. He was carving up. He has the potential to be a bloody good player. Just too inconsistent and these injuries aren’t helping.

He’s off contract at the end of the year. It’s time he hits his peak otherwise we need to replace him with someone else end of year.

Well Iro needs to show he is ready and force the change.
Yep, not like he’s not playing centre. He is every week.
Playing your preferred position every week sounds like being given a go to me.

Obviously at cup level in a lot of ways he’s doing well at it
But the criticism, at least we know about, has been pretty clear and ironically is the same as one of the major issues with Talakai.

If Iro would be a hidden gem in the NRL then the onus isn’t on Fitz for not checking that, it’s on him for staying hidden.
Much prefer he prove himself must pick than go the Trindall route and stay just good enough and hope the bloke ahead of you becomes droppable

Nah this is where youre dead wrong.

You did it with Moylan, who most were calling should be dropped way before he did.. due to Fitz being stubborn and it backfiring on him

Trindall was ready from the first 3 rounds after killing it and showing Moylan up, him being put in NSW cup and on the bench did nothing for his development

And you could very well be wrong here again, let’s hope both you and Fitz have learned something this time around

Without doubt. Absolute legend. If it wasn't for his... lively... character, he'd probably be having his mural ripped down now too.

Agreed. Sometimes also it takes a player to be given a chance in nrl to really step up. Different motivation factors come into place. Different mentality. Different preparation. I’ve seen multiple players play nsw cup who kind of just cruised along, then an injury occurred. They got called up to nrl and made themselves unstoppable from their form. Give Iro a solid 4-5 weeks at centre and let’s see what he’s made of. Worth the risk.
