Irrespective of whether it is a better option for the sharks or not. I spend a majority of the away games at the Leagues club watching the game there contributing to the clubs coffers.

I would have still liked to actually go to the game and watch the boys play @ leichardt as it is usually a good atmosphere. Guess they've now taken that option away from me.

I do travel to games, in fact the only way for me to go to a game is to travel, so i know. But if the shoe was on the other foot and we had a packed house full of members, which forced no available GA tickets, meaning no opposition supporters, we would be stoked, a packed stadium full of only sharkies supporters would be a dream come true!

So you're saying that there shouldn't be some sort of section allocated for away supporters? If the NRL are dreaming of packed stadiums week in week out and the development of the game, they need to take things like this into consideration, else they risk alienating fans.

Having away supporters at the ground adds to the atmosphere... there's no way i'd want to lose that attribute in rugby league.

At the very least, there should be an allocation for away members. It should be 10%- 15% of the ground capacity, at the very least.

The nrl should allways allocate example 5000 seats for aways teams.

Why don't the sharks than go ok which ever sharks football club members or fans
Can't get tix to the game. Open up the et stand play the game on the big screen have cheap drinks
Then the players back to the leagues club / summertime bar.

And have a presentation.

I think the Tigers have 3 games at Leichhardt, 3 at Campbelltown and 6 at SFS.

Obviuosly the "bigger" games are at SFS.

You can why we always get assigned either Leichhardt or Campbelltown.

I think the difference this year is the fact its Round 1 and everyone is keen as for the footy to start.

Round 1 is an event so I think no matter who they play (even its the Cowboys or Titans) it should be SFS.

I can see both sides of the argument here:

The Tigers will make a heap of money, the ground will likely be a sellout or close, Tigers get more members, Leichardt looks amazing....

Negatives, it 'artificially' inflates members numbers, opposition don't have the opportunity to see the game...

As somebody suggested before me, if this was the Sharks I'd be pretty excited. In fact, I reckon we should be doing something similar for Round 2. Build it up as a blockbuster (pretty easy to do with players from both sides playing against old teams, Bennett, Carney's first home game), reserve tickets now, get the membership pack.

If Shark Park was filled with Sharks supporters then who here would seriously care?

You can't say 'I'd love to go to Leichardt because of the great atmosphere' and then complain about it not being at the SFS!

If the Sharks could fill Shark Park with Sharks supporters every week, I wouldn't move the game. Why reserve seats for the opposition?

I know I'm old school and many on here have pointed out my sometimes simplistic and antique views, but I don't really see anything wrong with what the Tigers are doing from a Tigers point of view. I think the Broncos are doing something similar (admittedly at Suncorp and I think it's only $45).

Do whatever gets membership. Get your logo on bags and lanyards and stickers out in the community. Surely it's easier to re-sign members than entice new ones, so already you have everyone's details for 2013.

I have written to the NRL on this. Not on. Allocation of tickets should always be available to away supporters regardless. It might be $65 to watch the sharks play the tigers but watching the mighty blue black and white beat them would be priceless.

You should never be denied the chance to be able to watch your team play! To all the Sharks supporters you can watch them but you have to pay triple the price, pftt thats not right at all.

What I think is ridiculous is that Leichhardt even fits the standards of an NRL ground. One grandstand, no parking...come one! If our ground were that bad we would have been given the old Souffs treatment.

I HATE the West's Tigers as a concept the way it currently stands; four home grounds??!! They are killing off the Magpies, Campbelltown get's the crap games. They are even trying to phase out the Magpie on the jersey (see the story in the Herald today).

The NRL need to do something about both "joint ventures" (read takeovers). West's need to be focused on the Campbelltown area, it is where all their juniors are. Ditto the Dragons and the Illawarra.

Finally, can anyone tell me what happens in overseas football comp's like the NFL and the EPL, for example? The games there are always sold out but from what I see, there is always room for opposition supporters. Surely they would be able to sell the entire game out to ticketed members only, but they don't...how?

Iron Shark, in the EPL away teams are always allocated a certain amount of tickets. The NFL has a certain amounnt General Admission tickets released a few days before the game with a first in best dressed rule.

There is an implied responsibility of any home team to "host" away supporters. It is simply unsporting and unethical to "lock out" away supporters. There are two teams on the field, and despite the popularity of the home team, the away team deserve some support. Its been that way around the world since day dot. Even at venues in the U.K and the U.S where they sell out years in advance, there is an option for a small number of away supporters. It is also unethical to force someone who is more than likely to be a member of another club to purchase a membership of that club to get a ticket.
