The 3 Wood. I have driver, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, putter in my bag. A five wood sits in there just for show to make up the 14 clubs you can have. The putter is probably there for show as well. Does nothing else. I am the type of player who 2 putts when it should be a one putt and I three putt when it should be a two putt. Four putts are not unusual in my repertoire. Which means I have to be good from tee to green. If my driver or irons are off, I'm gone.
lol you sound like me, I can sink a 3 metre putt easier then a 1 meter put, 1 meter putts scare me hahaha

I love my 3 wood. I bought a rescuer a few years ago, can't hit it to save myself.

For some reason I'm more accurate with the driver off the tee, the 3 wood is a lottery whether I'll slice, hook or top it.

I'm left handed too, any other southpaws on here ?

Me too. My driver has a massive head so the sweet spot is hard to miss. Even if I do miss the ball still tends to go relatively straight. I love my 3 wood off the deck though, has a nice ping to it when hitting the ball.

I get a massive slice every time I use my driver. There is a hole on my local course that it works beautifully for, other than that hole I don't bother getting it out.

Never tried a rescue club. Maybe I should get one one day.

Same Chad, very soon I'm going to invest in a new set, I'll go & do the measure up, try out the clubs etc But I was pre thinking I would get the hybrid 3 & 4 iron in the set to replace the irons, supposed theory is they are easier to hit than irons so some of the above posts have made me think again, I actually prefer hitting my 5 wood over my 3 iron.

yeah I have the hybrid 3 and it is easier to hit, I was at golf mart the other weekend and noticed that most new sets have one and a few had both the 3 and 4 hybrid

So I played out at Camden Lakeside last Thursday, first round since November last year. Not too bad actually, shot an 88 which is pretty good for me. Two birdies which is extremely rare for me! The course was in top nick.

im going to play there in a few weeks, they have some deal on where it's like $75 for 2 people which includes 18 holes plus a cart and a drink, pretty good deal

What's the course like?

Yeah mate, that's the deal I had as well.

It's a links style course. A bit of rough around and some pot bunkers, but the greens are pretty easy. Worthwhile playing off the back tees, whites make the course a bit short. It's a very nice course for $30 imo.

Good course, some genuine length par 4's where even if you get a good drive away you are still a longish iron in for your second shot.

The 17th is like that. Man I got lucky on that hole. Hit a nice drive but then sliced my second. Ended up plugged in a bunker on the adjoining fairway. I get to my ball and see a golfer's best friend in the middle of the bunker....GUR. Free drop, hit a 100m pitching wedge 15 feet from the pin and sink the putt...haha. Saved me 2-3 shots by getting a free drop given how buried my ball was in that bunker.
