i think its time to rebuild.

get rid of the golden oldies. eg tupou, barrett, morris, covell, cuthbertson (i know he isnt old but his crap anyway.) cordoba, pommeroy.

and start fresh and just sign young players. get a new coach in. might take a season or so to see results but at least then we have players for the future.

time to rebuild from scratch i think. and youth is the way to go. save some money and then when a player with like thurstons ability becomes available snap him up provided he isnt above the age of 25.

maybe this is right... throw Kelly and Smith in a room and dont let them out until they have bonded 'or something' .... chuck barret (he doesnt look like he wants to be there) and start playing the side today that we will be playing next year.(kelly 5/8th smith 7)..?

I worry how kelly's mental game will stand up to his time at fulback... he is a joke under high balls to other teams and the longer he stays there the worse his confidence and mental attitude may get...

why doesnt ricky play pomery on the wing.... why doesnt stapo swap with kelly on defence and play fullback.. and swap back on attack??

anyone...

if we were rebuilding id understand if we are playing crap. but we arent even rebuilding by buying the likes of cuthbertson and morris. rebuilding is signing a 17-18year old. playing them now. we might get smashed everyweek but in a year or 2 they will come good. but then you have to manage to keep the same team together.

just look at the bloody west tigers. there team is dead set ****house on paper. but somehow they keep winning!

You've got to be kidding. Marshall, Moltzen, Tuqiri, Ellis, Galloway, Farah, Lawrence...

He played well Round One last year. :( And to be honest, didn't play too bad last week either. But yeah, disappointing buy to say the least.

I meant it as besides benji marshall and farah they dont have the fire power of teams like the storm or parra or souths or most teams in the NRL and they always do fairly decently! and they also have a massive injury toll every year!

i think they are massive over achievers and just proves u dont have to sign big name players to go alright.

I don't know if the Tigers have been massive overachievers of if the media just haven't given them the right shake year in year out. Not to sound like Phil Gould or anything, but the Tigers are just as good as I thought they would be...and as they should be.

That's not correct.

On the Tigers- Marshall, Moltzen, Tuquiri, Ellis, Farah, Heighington, Galloway, Lawrence (and when he comes back) Tuaki, plus talented youngsters like Ayshford, Fifita and Lui? That's a horrible team?

You're also wrong about whether we're rebuilding. This idea that to rebuild effectively means having a squad made up of blokes below a certain (completely arbitrary) age ***** me to tears. You need older, experienced players for young players to develop properly. These older blokes- in our squad, guys like Morris, Barrett, Gal, Covell, Williams and Tupou- mentor the younger blokes. They set the standard at training. They pass on knowledge. They lead. And they take the heat of the younger fellas on game day by taking most of the responsibility.

Throwing 17 kids out there together is not going to aid their development in the long run. In fact for a lot of them, its going to harm them severely. You've got to be patient and bring them in when they and the team are ready.

As for Cuthbo- he's not exactly 32, he has talent and he's a forward, who don't usually develop as early as outside backs. I'm willing to give him more time. I don't think prop is necessarily his best position. What's more, it was only three weeks ago when heaps of people were giving him points for being one of our best against the warriors.

He's injured? Or have you got him mixed up with Moltzen?

AB i see what you mean. I wouldnt have a whole 17 man team of young blokes.

Im saying like eg. why did we sign john morris and paul aiton and stuart flanagan? signing 1 of them would have been enough and then using Joudo who is 20-21.

Thats what im saying.

Sorry i havent chosen my words at all well today.

I stick by my statements of its time to rebuild from scratch (unless we sign quality for next year) otherwise im sticking by my comments about getting rid of the older blokes. I think the coach and his coaching staff (ex Players usually) should be able to show the guys tricks of the trade.

I am comparing this theory of rebuilding from other sports and theres no evidence to support that it will work in the NRL.

Its just my thoughts and opinions on the matter. And the direction i see the club going doesnt seem to be positive. Like people have stated on here seeing Albert Kelly jumping for a bomb missing it by about 3 metres, that isn't going to encourage a young bloke. In fact i think it will have the opposite effect and he will begin to doubt his abilities at the top level.

I Dont know im just sick of all the smartass comments from my mates, work collegues and everyone else. Sick of seeing them loose. I just want something done about it!!!!!

Don't we all Maco - I don't know what I would do without having this place to let off steam to my fellow Sharks fans, it would do my head in! I see this forum as a safety valve, or a "support group" if you like! ;)

What do we expect???

You can not buy 22 players into the squad and expect them to jell straight away.....our attached shows it.

I do think Kelly whilst a future sperstar needs to mature in the NSWRL or Toyota Cup. Playing him in first grade is destroying his confidence.

I would also look at bring Matt Wright back some where....i see hes playing lock in the lower grades and hes bulked up heaps.

Again....as it already been said we just need to keep the faith......good times always follow bad and this year was always a rebuilding year.

Hang tough guys.....hang tough
