If Barba could have just not got in trouble (impossible for him, as it turns out)
Then Val ditching isn't as big a blow, we don't get SJ who was solid for us but moved Moylan to FB
Instead of ****ing around Moylan's legs he stays at 5/8 where we ended up bringing him back anyway

So better fullback secure and our long term 6 not dicking in and out of the position blowing up his hammies.

That one (or so) sniff dicked around our next few seasons quite a bit.
Pretty sure we were in talks to extend Barba for 3-4 years too.

You and I both know that contracts end early all the time.

Moylan would still be on the books..
I think with a year or maybe max 2 years to go that could happen.

The first 6 to 8 weeks will be make or break I reckon.

I think we will struggle to win a trophy with Kennedy at the back.. just IMO

It’s a very very important piece… I couldn’t tell you the last time a team with the same level fullback as WK won a comp
Lachlan Coote stands out

Yeah agree, especially in 2015 …think he was even in contention for the kangaroos
I remember him being close to NSW selection or discussed to be apart of the squad at some stage of his career just can't remember exactly what year that was.

I think upgrade on some of our soft forwards like Toby. RCG still available?
He's still available from what's been said recently.
Has already knocked back the Dragons and Dogs. Penrith wouldn't take him back I don't think.

If its true he doesn't want to leave Sydney then it leaves Roosters, Sharks, Manly, Tigers as his only options at this stage.
If he does want to leave Sydney then I know the Titans have a big offer for him though, they're keen as mustard.

I’d take RCG in a heartbeat

AFB and RCG leading the pack would be next level

We have 24 players signed for next year with 6 spots up for grabs.
From what I've been told - Bradbury & McCullough will likely be promoted taking 2 spots. Hiroti may have also taken a spot as well.
Ison, Coutts & Pollard are on our development list.

That still leaves 3 spots open & looking through our squad (after not re signing williams, hunt, (finucane leaving) we should have still a decent chunk of change.

If we re sign Berrell & Burns that would then leave us with big coin to sign someone like RCG you would think or another player in that top tier mould.

And there's a reason RCG is still without a contract. He's either asking way too much or just isn't that good. I believe it's both. Big pass.
Yeah I think the clubs he'd like to go to won't pay him what he is after, the clubs that will he doesn't want

Hope that made sense, I'm typing this as I'm looking at drawings (past 3 hours) on a new development and my brain is fried :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

There is simply no way we let go Hunt and Williams to sign RCG. Both who would be likely cheaper. We know our cap is tight. We've 100% let these guys go to spend any extra cash on retention through the squad. The money will get spent on Tricky, Nikora, Kaufusi etc. Those extra spots will go to budget guys like an extra year for Berrell/Burns.

I get their cheaper but RCG for me is a huge upgrade on both those 2 named.

After the 3 players mentioned earlier that are leaving, it has left us 2 middles down still after signing AFB. Promoting Bradbury doesn’t mean he’ll play any nrl so we need to fill at least 1/2 middle spots available with a quality prop.

On another note - Jayden Campbell is the one we should be having a crack at for 2026 imo. He’s decent in the halves but it’s evident his best spot is out the back. Gives us the X factor our squad needs, great support player through the middle, good kicking and passing game. Would be a huge asset to this squad and allows less pressure on our halves to try create all our points.

I completely agree RCG > Williams/Hunt.

But that's not the point. We've released those guys to save money to keep those in our squad. Both Royce and Jack were getting higher offers elsewhere and we couldn't match them moving forward.

If we sign RCG, it will cost us someone else, and it won't be BHU. In my opinion, leading into November 1 we should be working hard on retaining the core group we want to keep who are off contract next year. After we do this, let's see how much money is left and what middles/other players we can go after. I'd hate to lose Tricky/Nikora/Kaufusi because we signed RCG and couldn't find the extra cash for them.

This I could get behind. There's one too many fullbacks up there and you've gotta think that someone gets squeezed out. Playing Brimson at centre long term on big money just can't be the answer and you'd be a fool to let Kini go.

Yeah I'd love this. I just feel like it'll end up being Ison / Dykes.

Edit: Campbell signed through to the end of 2026. So by 2027 season, Ison will be 22.
