Ugh every time I think of his re-signing the more I think "why?".

I really think we are gonna lose someone important because of it. Extremely worried it's gonna cost us Trindall or even Nikora.

I agree we need that, and at the beginning of the year I'd have been all over paps but he's shown he's lost his explosive pace this year. I think he could be a real busy of a big money signing unfortunately.
He's probably lost a step of his old pace but still fairly fast, and headed to another GF I imagine his price stays high.

This is why having a good juniors pathway is important. Cheaper talented juniors mixed with veterans and a couple of marquee players means you stay under the cap.

If the club can replace Kennedy with a talented junior, we don’t spend to upgrade on Kennedy

Hopefully Trindall doesn’t become too expensive, because that will throw out the expenditures with AFB and Nicho already absorbing so much. This is why it is so critical Nicho returns to form.
Yep
Easier to stagger your junior whose killing it's price up and put pieces in place around them as you increase the spend than it is to buy the star outright.

Storm didn't buy any of their spine on current contracts, they put the right value players around them as their prices rose.

If BHU has a similar season next year to this year, move him on. Need to keep removing and adding better peices. Send him to titans 😉

Never heard of Kini before 2023 debut, but he's made the most of his opportunities this season. 20 yrs old already playing like he belongs in top grade, has been one of Titans best players this year and looks better than Brimson and Campbell at fullback. You get him for 2026, Ison can be fullback depth, let Dykes go. This is if Kennedy doesnt go next level next season and wants a pay rise

Or we just have faith in Ison.

Kini is the real deal, and if we could get him I would. He's on contract till 2027 though and we're in a window now. We'll know a lot more about what we have in Ison/Dykes before Kini is even a possibility of being available.

I dont think he'll be ready to replace kennedy next 2 yrs. Unless kennedy is out with injuries during season next year. Atko will get the spot before him though i'd say, if Tricky and Nicho are healthy

Zero tackle says signed til 2026, if he is then get him off one year early. Could be the future NZ Kiwi fullback

Yeah, that's inclusive of 2026. So we couldn't get him till 2027. Great in theory to just get him out a year early but I think our plans need to be a bit more solid during this window.

This is how we won the comp in 2016. Had Bird & Holmes on peanuts who were stars within the space of 2 seasons. Those 2 combined i think were on like 550k. Plus had a few rejects in Prior, Heighno who weren't on big dollars also but played out of their skin that season.

Barba would have been on bugger all vs his performance too.

Even guys like Lewis and Ennis would have been decent value as they got pushed out of their old clubs, even if it was with plenty left in the tank. Not like we had to outbid Penrith and Bulldogs for them.

It's a real shame we couldn't keep it together for a few years.
If Barba could have just not got in trouble (impossible for him, as it turns out)
Then Val ditching isn't as big a blow, we don't get SJ who was solid for us but moved Moylan to FB
Instead of ****ing around Moylan's legs he stays at 5/8 where we ended up bringing him back anyway

So better fullback secure and our long term 6 not dicking in and out of the position blowing up his hammies.

That one (or so) sniff dicked around our next few seasons quite a bit.
