I'm rather depressed after reading 2 Souths forum, however I'm leaving the Shire tomorrow morning and will by on the Gold Coast tomorrow by coincidence. If I spot him questions will be asked.

Telegraph journo Andrew Webster has tweeted he has been guaranteed Carney has not signed with Souths.

However who's to say given he is not in Sydney at the moment he hasn't just agreed to go to Souths and will sign once he's back home.

Get in their Flanno with a contract and pen.

The statement that we havent made an offer is smoke and mirrors.

Just means its not on paper and formerly offered to be signed, discussions have taken place i have no doubts.

Carney linked with Souths move - Fox Sports

Todd Carney rumoured to be signing with South Sydney although Cronulla confident they are still in race
The Daily Telegraph October
15, 2011 8:48AM

The Todd Carney saga has taken yet another dramatic twist with speculation rampant he would sign with South Sydney.

Sources reveal the Rabbitohs were poised to secure Carney on a one-year deal worth about $150,000.

But Souths officials would not confirm the signing and Cronulla were still hopeful of signing last year's Dally M Medal winner. Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson, currently in Europe, has repeatedly said his club would not sign Carney and maintained Souths had little or no money left under their salary cap.

But social media websites were reporting Carney would be at Redfern.

If correct, Carney would make an ideal halfback replacement for Chris Sandow, who signed a three-year deal with Parramatta. Carney is currently on the Gold Coast attending a friend's wedding.

Asked about speculation Carney had signed with Souths, Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said: "I have heard that rumour also."

"But his manager (David Riolo) hasn't contacted our club to tell us anything. We will wait and see what happens I guess."

Sharks officials though remain quietly confident of luring Carney to Toyota Stadium. It is understood Gold Coast have withdrawn their interest in Carney.

Carney returned from holidays in Thailand last week and expects to formally announce his new club early next week.

He was sacked by the Roosters late last season after a string of alcohol-related incidents.

By signing with Souths, Carney could maintain his residence in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

dave riccio seems to think he will be a shark

This is encouraging. As mentioned, Riccio is very close to the Sharks camp and was on the money earlier this year with the signings of Taga, Fafita, Gibbs etc etc before they were widely reported and official.

Lets see what happens!

If Todd does sign with us, I think he will be doing it for the right reasons, he had the chance to sign with the gold coast, getting the opportunity to party it up, with birdy and myles, and lets face it, talent wise, the titans would seem better than us to the average punter. Souths also would have much more talent on thier list than ours.

So if he does choose to come to the shire, I think every sharks supporter should fully embrace him, because I believe he is coming here for good reasons, not too simply party it up, or walk into a premiership team.
