CRONULLA Sharks have emerged as one of the favourites to sign the brilliant but controversial Todd Carney for 2012.
The classy five-eighth, who was released by the Sydney Roosters this season after a number of misdemeanors, is expected to join either the Sharks or the South Sydney Rabbitohs when he returns from holidays on the Gold Coast next week.

While Carney poses a risk off the field, some clubs here and overseas are willing to take the risk for his footballing brilliance, capped by his winning the .

We will see, And i watched him right through the juniors with my mate who is a player manager and he was eyeing him off to try and get him and a few others from the same side. So just so you know ive seen plenty of him and if he see's 1st grade it wont be for long.

A week and a half ago I was told my one of the most reliable sources you can get, rabbits wernt interested. If that'd change in the last week idk. But as far as I'm aware, he ain't going there

Shark boy - my mail also indicated he wouldn't be going to Souths. A leading player told my contact the new coach was not interested at the moment.

However my source has always thought he would end up at Souths & what worries me is we've been making noise where other than very early one Souths have been silent.

Just had a look at a Souths forum, they seem to think he is going there, apparently jarred croker who is one of his best mates has told people. They seem to think he has a 12 mtg contract with further 12 mtg option.
