Great bloke to have at the club and representing your business...Question, would any of you if owned a company, would conduct an interview with someone knowing his track record, all his alcohol problems still employ him knowing he will be under constant scrutiny from the media and public waiting for him to screw up again? If you owned that business i would find it hard for any of you to honestly say yes.

YES

we have a bad image already
we are broke
and we came 13th
what else could he do to harm us?

if he doesnt **** up, we will have an increase in ticket sales, sponsorship, members and channel 9 games which is big exposure for our sponsors

its a big IF but what have we got to loose ?

A no from the up coming proposal and more ammo for the NIMBYS to ensure the final death of the Cronulla Sharks maybe? I would prefer the club persist with what we have and continue the rebuilding image from prior mistakes we had at the club than to take un necessary risks.

I can't believe people are asking "What's the worst that can happen?". After the last few years how can you ask that? What the ****?

We are hanging on by a thread as it is from all reports, i just can't believe people are willing to take a risk that could really damage the club any further than it has been over the past. Look at what DI and others at the club have done to turn things around, that should be applauded, and it would only take a bloke like this to bring it down in the most important year of the clubs survival with the decision on this development yet to be approved.

I say No,
I said yes with Reni,
I said no with Tim Smith,
I say a Big no to Carney,
The last thing the Club needs is any bad publicity and Carney will bring that no matter what,
I think sponsorship $$$ are worth more that anything Carney can bring to the club, I fear Carney will eventually cost the Sharks sponsorship $$$$

Just my opinion, no need to flame me if you dont agree.

I would sign him if David Gallop agreed to it, as he would only agree to it under the right conditions. I'm not worried if we don't.

Having said that I thought we should sign Tahu :ridiculed

lol yep TaWho.

the proposal is to council for a land development.

not a proposal to see if the sharks are performing well on and off the field

The developers want our land thats it

he has the potential to turn the club around.

would u rather trust AK with that role ? another bloke is has major off field issues

atleast carney is a PROVEN perfomer

So you don't think bad publicity plays a part in arguments as to why the sharks deserve the land or not? I guarantee the people who are opposing this are using these types of arguments as well as many others.

Well 6000 people crowds will definately put the club under anyway. Tickets sales, drinks, food etc on game day is a massive percentage of the club revenue.

They need to win matches, which they havent been doing with the current squad.

No one signed next season is going to dramatically change anything, Carney would be one player who can.

Remember Carney was out of all pre season due to agroin surgery than was injured again for like another 5 weeks as well during the season, so he struggled with injury, he should be fully recovered by next season start, if fully fit this guy is a machine.

Hey guys it's simple - put a clause in his contract that when he wants to hit the ***** he has to be supervised by TeamGronk - what could possibly go wrong with that arrangement...

ha ha was thinking why are us Gronks the ones arguing about carney more than anyone. He would be awesome on the hill of abuse with us blokes, when he does something stupid and is banned.

Yeah it was me ****head, did i say it would? I said why run any risks than can jeopardise it. The club has done a bit to change it's image over the past couple of seasons, why bring in an element that can potentially bring it undone.

It is simple Snow. Carney must be so bad that even developers would give up millions in profits to stop him coming to the Sharks. We all know developers have high morale's

yeh im sure the council would red line it because we signed a player who loves a drink...
just think, the bottle shop in the development would make cash from him... its win win

they would want to employ church of the latter day saint builders, otherwise they may risk their development being delayed with builders calling in sick with a hang over

I think that signing Carney is a step in the wrong direction.. sure he is a great player but then who is he going to keep out of the team?
1 A Cronulla junior in Townsend who has had a taste of first grade this year and proved he has the goods and Carney takin his spot will just delay his development?
2 Albert Kelly who provides our team with the attacking spark we love?
3 Wade Graham the second biggest competitor in the game behind Gallen?

We have young halves developing into special talents. Carney will disrupt the development of these guys and along with the nit picking media (most of the reasons he has been done for at the roosters wouldn't of even made half as big a deal with other players) sponsors of the club will have to think twice to determine if they want their brand affiliated with us.

Maybe that should read "The biggest half back in the world"

IMO he will be one of the best Locks / Second Rowers in the world
