Yes.

Very fine speaker who said that he wasn't going to insult the PAC by pretending he knew enough to talk about architectural and design issues.

He then went on to speak of the importance of sport in the lives of the Sutherland Shire Community and beyond and the societal benefits of the proposal.

Thanks fitz - I heard he was a surprise support for us.

Minister for Sport - surely that is a big PLUS in our favour?

I missed the first six speakers but saw the rest and spoke as well myself. Everyone was in favour of the development with some good speakers. Which one were you snow?

I was 5th speaker tonight just after the president of the CSJRLF. We certainly owned that session, only 1 against 23 for.

Well done to all who spoke and put so much work into tonight. Now it is up to the PAC.

Were you guys there when Graham Annersley spoke (apparently) in our favour?

Yes Mate, I was there and he spoke brilliantly. The way that he connected the Sharks to the wider community was brilliant!

I also thought that the panel was genuinely chuffed to have the Cronulla and NSW Captain present his own thoughts on the development.

He was in support of the development "so his Mrs would have another place to shop". Hilarious.

Benny Ross didn't have any notes, he just rattled off his thoughts not only as an NRL player but also as a local business owner as well.

Sounds good. Well done to all who were there and spoke. Fingers crossed we can get this over the line.

I hope when it is done it does for the club what we all hope it will do.

That's it now, we wait. The three person panel who we presented to yesterday now sit down and go over the whole application and recomendations and then make a decision. The chairman at the end of last night said it could be a while but would be weeks and not months when they announce their decision.

Engadine, gods country.
it was interesting to hear the POV of people i dont know who support the development in my session yesterday. (2-6pm)

my gauge on things as has been stated before is that the pro development speeches were measured, calculated and relevant responses to the community as whole, and those opposed were all self centred responses and all about "me".

well done to all who spoke yesterday and hopefully the 3 most important in the history of the sharks right now make the right decision!

Consider ‘wider implications’ of Sharks’ plan: minister
BY MURRAY TREMBATH
26 Jul, 2012 02:15 PM
Sports Minister and Miranda MP Graham Annesley today urged the Planning Assessment Commission to consider the ‘‘wider implications’’ when making a decision on the Cronulla Sharks’ development.
In a surprise move, Mr Annesley was the first of many speakers to address the three-member commission panel at a public meeting at Rydges Hotel at Cronulla.

He said he was not qualified to give opinions ‘‘about things like size, density, or traffic impacts,’’ ‘‘but, in some development applications there are wider implications than just the bricks and mortar issues’’.

‘‘I’m not trying to dramatise or overplay the situation, but it’s common knowledge the club is heavily in debt,’’ he said.

‘‘Their financial backers have been patient, waiting for the outcome of the decision you’re now contemplating.

‘‘If the club folds because of financial pressures, the repercussions will be felt far beyond just Sharks fans’ in Sutherland Shire.

‘‘It’s not only about possibly having to close the doors of a local commercial operation ... but it could also shatter the dreams and aspirations of thousands of people to whom the Sharks are an integral part of their daily lives.’’

Some speakers were opposed to the project and Sharks’ stars Paul Gallen and Ben Ross were among those who voiced support for it.

What did you think of the meeting?

Is it just me that wishes they just make a decision already.
I do realise that it's a massive development where implications would be felt far wider than just the club. Remember though, it's the same situation for both positive and negative implications.

I am a fan of the notion "power to the people" but don't let "Mr Smith" who happens to live across the road from the potential development weigh to heavily in the decision with dramatic statements about traffic and noise.

The same could be said of footballers supporting it. Surprisingly supporting a club who pays them
