I'm confident that the crew who have got us to this stage will continue to represent us at the PAC hearings. The job done thus far has been outstanding.

Fitz - do you numbers on how many will attend in favour ? We need to ensure we have strong representation both from inidividual people, families (both struggling/low income and high income earners) , enviromentalists, businesses, tradesman, school teachers/principals and spoting coaches coaching junior teams etc etc...we need a range of diverse presentations. We need facts and metrics of previous projects that have been successful in building areas of sydney or australia....

Hi all!

As most of you are well aware, the Planning and Assessment Commission, as a part of the Part 3A approval process, has now been given the responsibility of arriving at a determination regarding the Sharks Proposal (MP 10_0229 - Concept Plan - Mixed Use Development, Cronulla Sharks)

As a part of that process, the PAC Panel is now required to hold a public meeting, at which time, interested parties are asked to present a 5 minute verbal presentation that addresses the proposal. You can speak as an individual or as a designated spokesperson of a group.

That meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 26th July... maybe Friday the 27th if required.

The NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure has prepared a report and recommendations available at: Recommendation to Planning Assessment Commission and that is in favour of the proposal.

Please Note: This is NOT approval of the proposal - the final delegation to approve and sign off on this rests with the Planning and Assessment Commission.

Here is a transcript of the correspondence sent out by the PAC Secretariat recently:

Notice of Planning Assessment Commission Meeting
Cronulla Sharks Development – Concept Plan for Mixed Use Development at 461 Captain Cook Drive, Woolooware, Sutherland Local Government Area

I refer to your submission to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure on the above application. The proposal has now been referred to the Planning Assessment Commission for determination, under the terms of the Minister’s delegation.

For this application, the Commission comprises:
  • Mr Garry West (chair);
  • Ms Gabrielle Kibble AO; and
  • Mr Richard Thorp.
The application and associated documents, including the Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s assessment report and recommendation, are publicly available on the Department’s website (application number MP10_0229) and via the Commission website www.pac.nsw.gov.au, listed as D156/12 – Cronulla Sharks development in the PAC Register.

Due to the level of public interest in the project, the Commission has set aside a number of sessions to hear submitter's views on the Department’s assessment report and recommendation, prior to determining the project.

The Commission Meeting sessions will be open to the public, and will be held at the Rydges Hotel, 20-26 The Kingsway, Cronulla and are scheduled for Thursday 26 July 2012 from:
10 am – 1 pm, 2 – 6 pm, 7 – 9 pm and will continue on Friday morning, if required.

Given many of the views and issues raised are common to multiple submissions, the Commission requests that stakeholders organise their presentations so common views can be presented by a spokesperson. Preferences for time spaces will generally be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Speakers are also asked to note the changes that have been made to the proposal since it was exhibited. The changes are described in the Department’s Assessment Report. Speakers are asked to focus their comments on the Assessment Report and Recommended Conditions.

If you would like to comment on the Department’s recommendation you can register to speak at the meeting by contacting Mrs Greyce Fernandes on (02) 9383 2112 or email pac@pac.nsw.gov.au by 2 pm, Monday, 23 July 2012.

If you have any questions on the Commission process, please call me on (02) 9383 2113 or email megan.webb@planning.nsw.gov.au.

Yours sincerely

Megan Webb
NSW Planning Assessment Commission

Please note that all documents provided to the Commission are public documents and may be made publicly available on the Commission’s website, unless you have clearly indicated that you do not wish your submission to be made public. For submissions made by individuals, the individual’s personal contact details, other than their name, will be removed from the submission before it is published.

In order to canvass a broad spectrum of those interested in this proposal, we encourage you to register your interest in speaking to the PAC Panel by contacting Mrs Greyce Fernandes on (02) 9383 2112 or email pac@pac.nsw.gov.au by 2 pm, Monday, 23 July 2012.

Everyone is encouraged to register to have their say.

Do not feel compelled that you must speak for the full 5 minutes - although you'll find a rational and reasoned response is easily filled within that time!

If you're not feeling comfortable to get up and make a statement, please feel free to come along and attend all or some of the sessions.

As has been said in the correspondence from the PAC, "
Speakers are asked to focus their comments on the Assessment Report and Recommended Conditions."

Anyone seeking further information as to how to register or in need of further clarification, please PM me.

Also, if you wish me to present your comments to the PAC on your behalf, please send your comments to me via PM HERE

I agree with Carol Provan and the 14 Councillors who opposed the gross overdevelopment of the Sharks Leagues Club proposal. Clearly rhe Club supporters don't drive around the Sutherland Shire in the early morning or late afternoon. The traffic congestion in the Shire has almost become unbearable and with this massive development it can only get worse.

In his letter he said " The developers will swallow up all of Toyota Stadium eventually"

what does he mean by this??

How does he intend for the Cronulla Sharks to survive without the development going ahead??
