seggy and cruz probably
Sweet , thanks
seggy and cruz probably
if you plot a terrorist attack but chicken out, you still plotted one
we had every intent to cheat and illegally set up a way to cheat
thats why we were fined
its the exact way parra cheated, except we cooperated and parra hid evidence
we also did cheat, and they way we cheated was another level of stupidity
thats why we got fined
from what ive read it was set up by a former club director. Not by the club.
I thought we self reported an over payment of $50k.
one of them was due to front the nrl and resigned from his post the day before
Well we didn't have hundreds of thousands worth of fines. We had one of the best coaches in the game. We didn't have cap restrictions for 2 seasons. We weren't getting bashed in the media over cap investigations for months making it impossible to sign or re-sign sponsors.
But sure, we're so much better off now, if you say so.
look beyond the next few months or even next 2 seasons.
our brand was already bad, it's still bad. that's not on Barry. Difference now is we might actually have a chance to build sustainable improvements to our image and operations in the long term. our BAU culture was pretty ****ty, embarrassing actually.
notice I say a chance, it isn't guaranteed we fix things from here but if the lessons aren't heeded that's on the club.
our auditor found the problem, should he have been gagged or paid off? the board supported barry informing the NRL which he did. rip the band aid out now for small pain or bigger pain later when it's infected; there is no way this stuff doesn't come out down the track through a leak, wistleblower, separate investigation ect. we are cronulla, never far away from the next drama.
board members resigning is weak but prob for the best if they arn't the right people or are some how complicit.
we have struggled with getting and keeping major sponsors for years now, not a new thing.
Flanno our coach was already on thin ice and has pushed the envelope of what is acceptable a number of times. sucks losing him but he dug his own grave though ignorance and arrogance and the club held the shovel for him. yea the NRL itself is a inconsistent joke at times but that doesn't mean we can ignore the rules in place.
If you are ok with burying what barry found then you are ok with the next ASADA, the next cap scandal, the next player/coach revolt because that's the culture that fosters and that's the environment that gets supported top down. there's no way this wasn't going to be our last major screw up, yet alone a public one.
as a fan and member I would prefer to know about the dealings inside my club (good and bad) than be kept in the dark of blissful ignorance and cover up. that way we can make informed decisions at board elections ect. if they are being dodgy, fans and members have the right to call them out on it. **** me it would be nice to be proud of this club off the field and in the front office for a change. I've said it before but if there is any club in the league that should know better and be playing clean skins by now it is us.
No opposition fan is going to have sympathy unless we suck. Same with the knights being a lot of people's second team lately - as soon as they're good again they'll be hated again.
the guy was a director of the club at the time, sourcing tpa's
which is illegal unless your report them to go into the cap.

Yeah things obviously weren't going well in the office as we were always on the verge of bankruptcy.
Anderson was a defining moment though. We wanted the world to take us seriously. No more mr nice guy.
Defining alright - set us back over a decade.
