what I took from the nines is that I think he will make a decent centre, there were also good signs of this in the highlights package from last weekends nsw cup game

The only time you'd entertain the thought of putting bird in at 5/8 is if we had a halfback like Pearce, DCE or adam Reynolds etc etc, someone who can control the game and a inexperience half like bird can ease his way into the game, playing him beside robbo would be first grade suicide imo
Agree, based on what I've seen.

Would love to be wrong though.

He reminds me of Blake Austin who got shuffled between 3/4, 6, 9 and the backrow before obviously settling at 6. Both are kind of rangy, aggressive types who looks a natural footballers and one that could play pretty much anywhere. A bit like a young L. Lewis.

I'd prefer to see him in the centres but he'd surprise plenty at 6.

If he plays in the centres then who drops out? I think Beale and Leutele have been good so far given the positions they've got the ball. I'd probably bump Leutele reluctantly - Beale is obviously in the long term plans with a 3 year deal. He's also got a lot more pace than Rick.

2. Feki 3. Beale 12. Graham on the left and Bukuya/Lewis 4. Bird 5. Holmes/Gordon on the right.

If we don't beat the Titans at home then I struggle to see a win before origin.

During the offseason I predicted that the Sharks would be 0/5 at the start of the season before having a resurgence as the team starts to gel.

For some reason I have tipped them this week though.

Hopefully they react to the public scorn and ridicule and show some pride and aggression this weekend.

I don't see Jack Bird as a 5/8. I see him as a barnstorming, tackle-breaking, fleet of foot, skill-laden, blockbusting, scintillating centre.

We've got to stop looking for the next Ben Pomeroy

I've changed my mind several times already. I'm expecting Graham at 5/8 and I'm back to tipping the Tits at this stage.

If Wade is at 6 for this game, forget about winning. Nothing at all against Wade but it would be another example of our illustrious coach having no idea.

Imagine if we put Wade back into the halves and it worked, finally fulfilling the initial purpose of him being here.
I actually think it could work with Barba at FB and dropping Gordon. I reckon Barba will play much better one rung down the playmaking chain of command, and having him chiming in at FB may equally take some of the pressure off Graham at 6.

So Barba is out for 2 weeks so put your bids in gents. Not what you want, but what you think you'll get.

It might work. With him already doing a bit of kicking now, he probably should be there anyway. In my "perfect" scenario he's a second rower or a lock. If he has to play 5/8 I want him to be with a dominant halfback with a solid kicking game. I think he'd be capable of playing second fiddle in the halves, even though that's still not his best position.

This is neither of those situations, but it still might actually be the best we can do at this point in time, even if it is far from ideal.

I said before that I want to see Murphy there, just so that we have a "natural" half. I'm not sold that he's up to it, but meh, it's worth a try.

Can I change my guess to "Graham in the no.6 but Gallen actually getting in the way and basically playing there like usual?"

Seriously though Flanno should give Murphey a run.
