That team is stacked full of talent. Most talented team we've put out in years. Fergo, Toops, Snow, Doug, Aiton, Flano, Baz, Stapo, Kelly, Cuthbo and Vave are all really talented footballers. And there will be even more next week when Smith comes in. Talent is not the issue.
Similarly, effort is not an issue. They tackled their backsides off. If anything, they got so frustrated that their effort went unrewarded that they got angry again- as Gus Gould pointed out in his column after we lost to the Drags last year, angry football isn't winning football.
The problem is execution. We keep dropping the footy. We don't get to our kick, and we don't find space often enough with the kick, and certainly don't get enough repeat sets. And we haven't defended as a unit enough last night or last week.
Get those things right and the points, confidence and wins will come. We need some calm, and plenty of belief in that team right now. Not "passion" or "strike power".
I think a talk from someone outside the camp could do wonders this week.
