Great to see the wrist slitters out tonight. We've had a fantastic record against top 8 teams this year. Souths, Brisbane and tge Cows have all had a **** game of late. But yeah, we're **** because of one putrid game after some fantastic wins.

I agree I just think we are a little disappointed after such a positive few weeks it's normal to be gutted when we had such a great opportunity but just didn't aim up. I am confident though that we will have a cracker two games and smash the Tigers and eels and everyone will be back on the sharknado lol

In reality the result should have been 12-2 - late tries blew it out

Apart from the reffing we lost it because of our kicking game - its woeful - WTF is Mitch Healy doing with Robson ?
Nothing. I thought it was Dykes.

They niggled the crap out of us all night, you could see we were so frustrated by the way the game was being reffed hopefully we put this in the memory banks and learn from it. Rather play a game rattled now then in the finals.

I blame the loss on:

20% bad reffing
20% we had no game plan
20% players believing media hype
20% flano believing media hype
20% storm slowing the play the ball

We niggle the crap out of teams most weeks. We need to be better than that when the shoes on the other foot.

Nrl.com have Munster at making over 300 meters this game. I guess lobbing kicks straight down a fullbacks throat all night is not good for field position. (Yes I know he made a break-away at the end to boost the stats)

The refs were terrible but you guys are kidding if you think they had a bearing on the result. They didn't.
Of course they did. Our entire game plan and worth as a team is coupled to 2015 season rules not 2008 season rules.

However the inflexibility of our game plan is on us too.

We are only goof at run metres and when 2008 era gang tackles are allowed we never gain the required momentum that leads to line breaks, tackle busts, quick play the balls and ultimately posession. That is how we win games. It is an attacking form of grinding based on running the ball rather than kicking.

We also had a small pack tonight which didn't help. Just one of those games when the entire team was off. We were due for it.

The refs were bad but we were worse regardless of what Melbourne got away with.

That's what you get for saying I'm Phil Rothfield you merkins.

No but seriously they were rarely ever on side and were never penalised for laying down. The reffing was so bad yoy could almost make a case for them being bought.

We didn't play great but what can you do when the refs are consciously not blowing the whistle?

We won't make 4th now. Probably 7th, then out week 2 at best. That's not wrist slitting that's just being realistic.

To try and look at it in a positive light i hope the coaching staff can come up with a plan to counter this style of play as we'll invariably come up against more finals experienced teams. As i said before they just played right into Melbournes hands.

Every chance we lose anyway, but we were beaten by the ref tonight. Entirely. Gang tackles and third man in flops. It was Like an exhibition game designed to prove that wrestling and slow play the balls will kill rugby league, and it worked. That said the way our forwards back into tackles leaves us a sitting duck for that to happen. We needed guys like Fifita and taga who do a good job of landing on thier front in a tackle and then get a quick play the ball.

Next week I'd be dropping Barba for Taga and keeping Arona. Our smaller pack needs 4 forwards on the bench.

A ref being incompetent doesn't mean they were bought. Imagine some junior league ref like Robo Cop (of Fifita fame) officiating that game, not knowing how to control the ruck speed and having the Golden child Smith as a captain sweet-talking him compared to Gal huffing and puffing at every opportunity.

Captaincy does matter when the refs don't know what they are doing.

Classic sharks. As soon as the media start talking us up strap yourself in for a severe reality check. We throw so many pointless offloads to players going nowhere. Frustrating, frustrating stuff. We won't be able to take the tigpies lightly as they seem to go all right against us. Go sharks.

We lacked go forward tonight and our kicking game was again very ordinary. Really missed Fafita, Taga and a No 7

Let's talk some harsh realities right here and stop pointing the finger at the refs.

We had zero line speed, Our kicking game was atrocious, we kept sliding in attack resulting in our backs been cramped on the sidelines. We gave them easy metres and let them charge up the field way to easily, gal was far to involved and having barba sitting on the bench when we needed spark wad a huge mistake. We had plenty of chances in their 20 and even had a few repeat sets but never looked dangerous. Too many one up hit ups and sliding when we did spread it. Was the Broncos game all over again

Those are the reasons why we lost. Not the refs. If we are serious about the comp we should be able to defend a few sets in a row. They game down our end twice in the first 20 minutes and scored 2 soft tries. Refs are going to blow penalties and if the oppositions gets a penalty and they come down the field for the first time and score a very soft try then that is far more concerning to me then blaming the ref because he blew a penalty.

Were the refs ****. Of course. Should we have received more penalties. Of course but tonight's performance as a team was absolutely shocking. Blaming the refs is just shifting the blame from a team that played like a bottom 4 team tonight.

Back to the drawing board and move onto next week. It's vital we bounce back and bounce back well
