FORGET Wests Tigers ace Benji Marshall or Souths prop Roy Asotasi, it is the man pictured to the right who Wests Tigers and South Sydney supporters should fear.
Controversial whistleblower Jason Robinson has remarkably survived the axe after his monumental stuff-up against Cronulla and will referee Saturday night's critical clash between the Tigers and Rabbitohs.
His appointment for the ANZ Stadium game is all the more puzzling considering that NRL referees boss Robert Finch phoned rookie Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan yesterday to admit that Robinson's controversial and crucial penalty against Sharks centre Ben Pomeroy last weekend was wrong.
"It wasn't a try because he [Robinson] called held," Finch said of the decision which many believe cost the Sharks an upset victory over the Tigers.
"It was either a penalty to Cronulla or he should have sent Pomeroy back for a play-the-ball. Yes, it was an error. Yes, he has admitted it. Yes, he could have done it better.

"You learn from it and you grow from it and you move on from it. He's on with Jared Maxwell [this weekend] and it's a very big game, as lots of other ones are."
Balmain legend Benny Elias was stunned when The Daily Telegraph informed him of Robinson's appointment.
"The Sharks were robbed," Elias said,
adding that it was a "huge worry" going in to the finals.
"When players have shockers, they get dropped. This bloke gets promoted, even when they have admitted they are wrong.
"I can't work it out. My question is: What is their criteria for this? Are there not enough good referees?
Asked how Robinson could survive after such a basic and costly blunder, Finch replied: "Do you think I'm going to drop him for that? He's survived [to referee Saturday night's match]. He's fine."
Does he think a refereeing decision will cost a team a finals spot?
"This question comes up every year," Finch said.
"No, I'm comfortable with where we're at. That decision didn't cost anything as far as I'm concerned. "
Try telling Flanagan that.
The rookie coach wouldn't comment on the matter, except to say: "Robert rang me and confirmed that I was correct in thinking the decision was wrong in regards to Pomeroy.
"He also told me that Daniel Vidot's try for Canberra the week before, which was also match-defining, shouldn't have been awarded either. It's hard to take, but what can you do? You have to move on."
Instead of being demoted, Robinson, who earns more than $100,000 a year, could determine the minor premiership bid for the in-form Wests Tigers and the top-eight hopes of the desperate Bunnies.
Finch said the referees were fully aware what was at stake.
"We're already in semi-final mode," Finch said.
