Time to wash our hands of that game.
And prepare to take on the tigers.

Do we just keep doing that every time we play like a bunch of ****wits?

We did that for the storm, now for the cowboys? At what point do we stop and hold someone accountable.

I'm really disappointed at our goal line defence, we were abysmal. Cowboys looked like sure things every time they were within 15 metres of our line

Our line speed. seriously what is the go there? every set they made a good 50 60 metres easily.

yeah they managed an attacking kick almost every set, absolute joke, wouldn't have been so easy if Jeremy Smith was there

Fifth tackle options again were simply bomb and hope for the best.
When Carney did mix it up, once that is, we made a break(certainly wasn't Pommeroy's side).
If Pommeroy is Gumby then Matthew Wright is Pokey - his horse.

I feel sorry for Carney. Because we have no one else capable of creating something, no one, he has the weight of the whkle team on his shoulders. Until he gets some help we're not going far.

Gotta say I'm a little disappointed in carney. I rate him the best signing since Gavin miller (big call, buy that's my view). But miller would take a game by the scruff of the neck. Carney rarely does. Having said that miller had mcgaw, et and docking running off him. But carney still has Lewis, bukuya, gal running wide off him. Carney has not made a line break in recent memory (I am getting old). Having said that most teams have realised aside from him we have no attacking weapon. Close him down and their 50% there. Gav had more weapons around him for other teams to focus on. Still, with carneys skill I have been expecting at least on shot of brilliance every, say, 2games.

For the roosters carney just seemed more potent and I don't think they had far superior players then say gal, Gordon, Lewis, graham. My only thoughts are that 1. Carney is just not as mentally tough as miller and importantly 2. The coaching style is not giving him the opportunity to make a real impact.

Are my expectations too high??

No other coach would pick Pomeroy week in week out when he is consistently found out both in defence and ball handling skills....I am both baffled and frustrated that Flanno can't see what a liability he is.

I will defend Matty Wright though - Carney's pass to him was rubbish when he dropped it. Other than that, I think he did a reasonable job except perhaps when they defended on the goalline - Matty directed Tupou (I think) away from Carney and they scored over the top of Carney.

Once again, completions must have been near 60% 22 from 38 I think it may have been. You haven't got a hope when you surrender possession like that...

Damn...we are good at playing teams back into form - Cowboys really had nothing tonight and most of the teams in the comp would have beaten them tonight.

Also - what is it with us when we don't run up and put pressure on either their kicker or catcher .... our players need to read the Storm playbook every night for homework...

Sigh.....

agreed, doesn't help that he's being used as a speed bump all night either, we need a tough defender either side of him, we need to hurt people who run at him and teach them not to do so

For one, I wouldn't compare a player from the 80s who played backrow to a 5/8th in today's game. Gal Gordon etc weren't out there tonight to pass to. The fact pom has scored 0 tries this year would suggest that as you say other teams don't see that side as a threat which does limit carneys options. Feki, Gordon or beau need to play that position. Man we are missing leutele!!

My comments on the game:

Lewis started poorly but made up for it

We had no energy in the first half yet should have been well rested after the bye. The whole team looked liked they were backing up from Origin. WTF are they doing at training - is it optional? The forwards were busting out of all our weak tackles. It's a disturbing trend that our intensity drops of significantly after a bye.

Can't just make blanket statement that our backs were poor. Feki was good (liking his footwork) and Stapo excellent IMO. Sharkyboy can be proud of that performance, let no body down tonight. Good hands and some nice runs. Matt Wright was solid but that drop towards the end should keep him resigned to NSW Cup even if it wasn't a great pass from Carney. Poms surprisingly caught some tough passes and even covered up once in the in-goal but him getting turned around in defense late in the game was classic poms. Needs to be dropped and released for good. Jono Wright weant ok other than some arm grabbing in first half.

Carney had his best long kicking game in ages, found the grass more often than not but was forced to make more tackles than he should have. Made some good ones but also got steamrolled. In any case he looks a better Origin prospect than Pierce/Maloney. Tried his heart out.

Toops was very good, played with so much energy and purpose even using some footwork at one stage. Good to see that his new contract hasn't dulled his enthusiasm.

Degois good in defense but our hookers did not a thing in attack

I said before the game we needed to do a few simple thing to win this. Discipline and match the forwards to cut down on Thurstons space. Both were terrible. Cowboys attack was nothing special but we were too soft up the middle and close to the line at various times.

I don't blame this loss on Origin (as much as it ****s we too have players below their best or out injured). Flanno didn't get them up for this one and we were not organised in defense. It seems the gameplan was torpedo bomb and bat it back. Didn't work once.

Refs were the worst on field, particularly the first half. Both sides got away with a criminal amount of forward passes as well.

I don't understand why we don't use Jono Wright more often.

I swear when he gets the ball with a little momentum behind him he looks like our most dangerous outside back.
