Great effort mate unfortunately I dont think anything is going to prevent the inevitable at this stage.
Those who are pissed off by double standards and believe that you are innocent until proven guilty appear to be in the minority. Apparently there are alot of self righteous people out there who have never made a mistake, not the least at the age of 24, and are more than happy to smash the guy based soley on wilfully inaccurate media reports rather than thinking for themselves or reserving their judgement until all the facts are reveled (Court outcome).
Certain elements of the media appear intent on making Bird the scapegoat for league's problems rather than report this case impartially. Just because it's printed in the Telegraph doesn't make it so.
You expect rival supporters to dish out this ****, again, they'd piss off Gal if they could. But most dissapointing is the fact that Sharks supporters are so quick to forget that in Greg Bird the Sharks had a LOYAL club man (unlike some $BW) who served the club and by all accounts the community well. So eager to piss him off, without so much as a fair trial.
In particular supporter groups willing to tow the line rather than think for themselves,
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,24746627-23214,00.htmlnow the club has given them a cushy area of the stadium to sit, why rock the boat huh. Let's all just continue to keep quiet and cop what's dished up in spite of the unfairness or double standards.
And why not, the Board has a great track record when it comes to decision making (Campbell, Anderson, Raper) all has ended well, what with our two premierships in that time.
If he's a repeat offender that is different as would it be if it's revealed that he intentionally harmed his missus. Save for that he's a young bloke who made a mistake and might not have gotten the best advice, I'm told one of his reps is not that sharp (not his manager).
Look forward to another decade of celebrating coming one game shy of the GF. I hope I'm wrong and if I am it will be in spite of the decision to sack Bird not because of it.
