I am, but I can never find the time
In my draft comp we start the draft really early with no time limit on picks. It's annoying if anything happens in preseason, but I find it the best way to get through it without having to get everyone together at the same time for a few hours.
I do prefer classic but draft is good fun and I can definitely understand people preferring it
Yeah fair enough, I just find it annoying how everyone ends up with almost the same team in Classic.

You do end up pretty similar but making the move and getting it right one or two weeks before everyone gets there can be massive. Final ranking more important than how many similar players. I agree the H2H League aspect of it can be a bit dull... 'this week me and opponent have 3 players different and the same captain, should be wild!'

I haven't done a non-timed draft like you describe but I think should work well in a group like SF as we can easily communicate. Just don't want one or two people dragging their heels too much.
Yeah you can get burned by preseason news but my main draft last year that happened - Turuva got confirmed for Penrith wing like the day after we drafted and a guy took (I think it was) Jenkins fairly high.
No time limit is good for me being a different time zone too.

Yeah, it's the way to do it in this instance. Most of the early picks you can bank on short of an injury, but that could just as easily occur in round one.

I think we'd need at least 8 if we are going to give it a go. Maybe expression of interest here then we can take it to a DM group for the draft to organise?

We run ours like a silent auction, and it's great as you can pay up for any player you want.

You'd want to start it ASAP though, as there is only 3-4 weeks till the first team lists drop.

Would need at least 8 to make it worth running.

Did we say it could be done without being 'live' as such?
And I believe you can set up your draft priority list in advance, just in case and so as not to screw anyone around if one of the kids flips out or the dog runs away or a car drives through the living room or the like and I have to deal with it?

Yeah you can set it to no time limit. I think with 3-4 weeks to go, that should be enough time if we shorten the squads a bit.

Anyone know a good resource/video which explains SuperCoach to a newby. I have NFI with trades, money, lockouts, waivers etc. - have only ever
done a draft.

I'm definitely coming last, but my entire strategy will be to stack my team for the one game against Sparkles. 1 and 25 is an honourable record.

If you google NRL Supercoach for beginners - there will be options there - doesn’t matter if it’s from a previous year .

NRL Supercoach talk for dummies ( not that you are one ) was one that I read many years ago and was a good start .

You used to be able to ‘auto fill ‘ your team and then swap a few of your favourite players around - not sure if this is an option anymore .
Alternatively if you have a DT subscription - pick one of the expert teams and change a few players of the same value that you like . It’s not the worst way to start off .

The best tip that I can give is that good NRL players don’t always make good Supercoach players - look for hard workers in the forwards and guns like Cleary , Hynes , Ponga in the backs .

I’m sure a couple of the other guys will have some advice as well - it’s an addictive game mate ..

yeah see if you can find some intro stuff - there are plenty of content creators I’m sure some have made stuff.
Then happy to answer any questions you have

Waivers aren’t a thing in classic (normal), just draft

Good interview with Flanno. I've put it in here as it sounds like Sloan will be fullback.

@BurgoShark thisb isn't quite a beginners guide but I thought I'd be right up your alley. Gives you a good overview of the types of players you should look for and salary considerations
