Anyone thinking Chad had a good game tonight needs to reevaluate their expectations of what a normal halfback should be.

If Morris can drop Chad next game I’ll be all in signing him for a three year deal right now. He claims to be picking on form so Tracey should get that spot over him. Even if Tracey bombs out atleast it shows that Chad isn’t untouchable

Trindall had a good game in Nsw cup today. If he picks on form I'd pick Trindall over Tracey. Keep Tracey at centre for another game.

No one is saying that mate, he is not the greatest halfback I will grant you that but he doesn’t deserve criticism in this game tonight.

It doesn’t matter what anyone is on when you have that situation tonight.

Why are people so fixated on that in this particular game.

Criticise the crap out of him if he plays poorly when we are at full strength but tonight is not the night to do that.

But we do critcise him when we have a full strength team. The thing is halves don't need to be benched or subbed, forwards do. He needed to take control and be dominant with his kicking and organising, he wasn't. He isn't in other games either when we have a full team.

The only comments here tonight that I could imagine you’d be criticizing are the ones about Chad as everything else was very positive except for him so assumed you were defending Chad

No mate, people have been criticising BHU, Moyza, the coach, lots of people not just Chad.

Could have used Trindall's boot today. Need someone in the team who can kick it further than 40m.

Chad, Moylan, I don't care who's dropped. Probs would prefer it be Moyza.

“Sigh.”

I know that mate and I’m happy for you to do that. I’m right with you there.

I’m saying it’s harsh to criticise him tonight. He’s not why we lost.

Halfback live by the sword die by the sword. When a team is flying the Half is getting complemented all day. Rough patch and they get grilled. They are the captain of the ship. A position with a lot of external pressure. Chads games do get put under a microscope but unfortunately that’s the way it is.

I agree that it's not why we lost, but disagree that we shouldn't critique him.

While the win was out of reach once we started the second half with no bench, it was a game where smart halfback play would have eased the burden on the rest of the team. On a number of occasions Chad did the opposite.

He's not the reason we lost, but we should expect better.

No points but atleast giving ourselves a better chance. We were 0 chance with Chad there probably 20% with anyone else.

Who you want? Wanna pay Milford twice as much to lead us to victory? Brooks who is also on more? Hunt? He's having a pretty good season so far... didn't do much for 2.5 times Chads pay the last couple years though did he.
Maybe save some dosh? Would you go Clifford or Averillo to win us that game? Old mate Flanju?

It's not like we had the #1 draft pick and took Chad. Because someone else raised it, Chad is our third highest paid half. I know some have decided to randomly assume he is on near a million or 700k+ but there is no support for that.
We kept cheap Chad to pay for better players in other areas.

Yeah there are halves better than Chad, plenty, most are paid more and that does affect who else is on our roster. There are also halves on similar levels and worse who definitely also don't win that game.
There's a handful of halves who give us a chance in that game.

Reckon if we have Munster he does a couple extra conservative kicks to win us that game? Or tries something?

I don’t think people wanted Chad to win us that game, but don’t kick it on the 3rd with no chasers, or on the 4th to the fullback on the full etc etc

Well there's two different things going on
There is whether trying something is a reasonable choice or if we should play conservative which is being discussed, but there is also just the fact fatigued and mediocre Chad did a **** job of trying something.

I don't want Chad to win the game by himself, I want us to win the game as a team and everyone playing their role. Unfortunately tonight was hard on everyone, but players like Townsend and Moylan show that they aren't good enough.

This. Chad needed to give us more of a chance to win the game. Simply by keeping the ball in play or handing over possession cheaply on the third tackle put us under so much added pressure. I can guarantee if SJ was playing he would have played a much more conservative game, played to the corners giving our big boys a rest and made the eels work a bit harder with the ball. I don’t care if he didn’t kick it as far because of fatigue but 40m and out is better than 40m and in the middle of the field...

Outside of a hall of famer no one could be expected to turn that game, let alone perform as expected with that structure and fatigue.

Write it off. Look to next week with hopefully 3/3 passing HIA protocols to play.

Bit worried about Katoa though
Hopefully all three HIAs pass and we might be Tracey at centre and Hiroti or Nene on wing :/
