png team is a terrible idea, perth is a must! whatss the point of having another brisbane team the game is strong there, the need to spread the game is the point of expansion.....get it into areas to grow it even if its small growth year by year e.g melbourne....

Brisbane is arguably the strongest area for rugby league and they've only got one team. They've got no competitors, they need a second team there.

The point of a second Brisbane team is return on investment.
Basically, any new team that comes in will get a club grant and probably additional money on top as a start up fund. A second Brisbane team is by far the most viable and likely to bring money returns to the NRL through all the channels from merchandise to increased value of TV rights.
The sponsors that the Broncos reject would be the envy of almost any other team in the NRL, the second Brisbane team will get those dregs and be better off than most teams.
They'll get 25k+ crowds easily.
Brisbane will have a weekly game of Rugby League. It's almost insane that this city doesn't currently.
The juniors are all there.
It's a no brainer.

I agree it will be a Brissy team. I would really like to see a central qld team, but the best return on investment would be down in the big smoke
I can see huge value in a central Qld team. A truckload of the world's best players come from there.

There's merit for most of the expansion places named in my opinion.
New qld teams- strengthens a league heartland more
Perth- expanding into a new area, another tv timeslot
NZ- another team would make league compete more with rugby in NZ
Don't know about Adelaide, and no to a 2nd team in melbourne or anymore teams in NSW.

As you can see by my location l live on the Central Coast and we all know the Coast wont get a team, lm glad because there is only one team in the nrl and thats the mighty sharkies. The only thing l worry about is that the knights have a catchment area from north sydney to tweed heads big area for juniors.West Australia and another Brissy team sounds about right. Definately not SA over there they are crazy for that other game.
l know lm a country member and lm sure you remember (there is a joke in that) but the country is scream for a team somewhere. Once again the population thing. Oh and stuff the bears.

HB i think you underestimate the way the sport has grown in victoria the storm have great crowds ( i get along to a few games a year even though im more of a sharks fan ) and no tto mention 202,000 like on facebook
seriosuly i think its real chance give it 6-8 years second team in Victoria/Melb is a real chance NRL needs to open its eyes more take risks like the AFL has done. The storm are almost as popular as some lower tier AFL clubs....
By the way, the Storm are not almost as popular as the lower tier (Melbourne-based) AFL clubs.
Storm average home crowd for 2012 was 12,685 vs Western Bulldogs (23,317), Melbourne (28,726) and North Melbourne (24,712).
Membership numbers for 2012 for the above AFL clubs were Western Bulldogs (30,007), Melbourne (35,459) and North Melbourne (33,423). I can't find the Storm's figures for 2012 but they wouldn't be anywhere those AFL clubs.
