Cronulla's chequebook will now be used to sort out Nicho Hynes' scrumbase partner and backline reinforcements, while the Storm and rival suitors plot their next moves after the Sharks snapped up the game's hottest free agent.
The Melbourne utility's long-awaited pay day after years of scrapping come contract time arrived on Tuesday when a three-year Cronulla contract, believed to worth around $1.5 million, was announced.

An emotional Hynes "struggled to get the words out" when he informed first Craig Bellamy and Frank Ponissi, and then teammates that he would be leaving the club that helped put him on the NRL map.
For the Sharks, his signature is an undoubted endorsement of incoming coach Craig Fitzgibbon, with outside backs and a playmaking call Cronulla's next key roster moves given Hynes has been signed to play in the halves.
Retention talks are underway with Matt Moylan, with he and Shaun Johnson now jockeying for starting contracts next year.

Both are facing significantly reduced offers to stay, with Johnson tabled a one-year deal earlier this year.
The Sharks are also in the market for outside backs given a raft of injuries exposed their depth out wide this year, while veteran centres Josh Dugan and Will Chambers are also unsigned beyond 2021.
It's unlikely the club would target a top-line recruit such as Dane Gagai, rather mid- to lower-tier earners to reinforce their roster.

Cronulla officials and Dale Finucane's agent have dismissed any pursuit of the off-contract Storm skipper.
The Sharks already have Cameron McInnes arriving as a lock next year, and Toby Rudolf's re-signing alongside the likes of Braden Hamlin-Uele, Franklin Pele, Andrew Fifita and free agent Aaron Woods to leave them well stocked for middle forwards.

I’m still thinking we can get Finucane.

The board has got everyone denying it, they even have Snowy doing it.

So I’m not giving up just yet.

Or may be that Liu is all but sorted on a more cost effective contract...

On same price probably Burton over Hynes, narrowly. Def Burton if he is on 25-50% less
