Just with the errors I did the unthinkable today and emailed Fitz about them. But I disguised it behind a bunch of praise with our spot on the ladder and the culture he’s built.

He replied to say the boys were enjoying each other’s company and the culture. He addressed the error issues as follows:

“Fundamentals have let us down from time to time but we are going to continue to work on them as usual.”
I hope he doesn't read this forum. He'll be feeling like he's just fallen for the popcorn trick.

I though he was OK tonight but the whole team lost their way a bit. Losing both WK and Moylan had a negative effect on our game.

I agree but at the same time if we make 50% less errors we probably win by 20
Which is what I was expecting tonight, not praying for the game to end after the 70th minute.

I have to admit though, when I read about Moylan my heart sank. It’s hard to overcome both him and WK being out. Then Tracey went out…

Tricky was very good, Moyza out was the least of our worries.

Best on ground.

Hopefully a good indication on him picking up how and when to take the line on. There was no hesitation to take it on last night and the benefits of that were clearly visible.

Just remembered this article, not sure if we've run through it before.
Thought it was interesting how Fitz described Nicho's role, seeing as early impressions were that Nicho would be running the show and developing into the more traditional haflback role. Things change though I suppose, and it does look like what's been happening on the field for the second half of the season at least:

"“When we signed Nicho we didn’t want to make him a traditional on-ball halfback [which] wouldn’t have suited his attributes. What Matt’s been able to do is take a lion’s share off Nicho and allow [him] to run freely and get around the field more. Matt’s happy to get on board and help [him] release to do that and vice versa."

The banana bending goal kicking at the Bermuda triangle against the Dragons seemed to work well for him

Nicho might not be perfect in everything he does on the field but he is such a refreshing style of player to watch play halfback and he is always working on something - run, pass, dummy, offload, early kick he keeps things interesting. A halfback that can take on the line like a 5/8 and he is finding his nose through the line more often lately.

has a field day if the opposition don't swarm him but even if they do he has other qualities that he brings. Can make a great tackle as well. Has the class to match the effort.

As much as Chad & Reynolds have helped their respective new teams I am really glad we signed Nicho
He gives me a strange fuzzy confidence
