In that game no I can’t, he is a million times better as a footy player I get it but as a half in that game I didn’t see much to show it.

Genuine question how that game was much different to say a Chad Townsend game because everyone is raving about how Hynes went
Eyes up footy vs constantly rehearsed moves.

One is creative, the other is calculative.

There was so much more confidence in his game and one where the conditions were atrocious - we'll never know of course but put Chad in those same conditions and he would freak out. His kicking game was better, his passing game was great in pouring rain and his defence was terrific, took on guys all the time and put them to ground. A great 80 minute effort, give him a dry track and a better forward pack and you'll see just how good he is.

I agree mate, just don’t want us to buy into the hype too early

Fair enough Wiz - you're right, it's easy to get carried away. It's just we've had things so mediocre for some time with CT that when someone like Nicho comes along, you have to think it's going to be better! :)

Not everyone raving.I'm extremely cautious in overhyping him at this stage of career, and what's needed in this Sharks team.Hes a confidence type player I reckon also,so people should ease up on the early over expectations IMHO.

In your head, rent free
Played behind a forward pack that was belted from post to post and was still their best player.
Not his best but far from his worst

Trindall on the other hand, was crap again. Did himself no favours in his rehearsal with Nicho
I think plain vanilla is all we’re ever going to get from him. I’m still on the Moylan train, I get it will possibly break down between stations but I’m happy to stay on him.

That is not my quote Gards - you are quoting what Wizard said.

Imagine being framed by Wizard
Sorry Chaddles, still getting to grips with the new quoting system

As for Hynes, in response to some of the recent comments from other posters I don't think we are over hyping him or saying he played the ultimate halves game or anything. Simply appreciating a super solid mistake free performance (best in his team) that put some of us fans concerns of him being in the halves at ease and made us excited of his potential and the season ahead. But saying he was just solid isn't fair IMO, I thought his kicking and passing was at a high level.

If Chad played like that most weeks I would have been content but he had bad defense and bad options in him, less agility, inferior kicking game ect. That would have been one of the better Chad games if it was him out there instead of Nicho and Chad did have good games where he did most things well but large spells of being no where near that

Anyways that is stomping over old ground. If that is the Hynes baseline of what constitutes a typical or solid game and he builds bigger performances from there where required I am happy. Very happy

If he is played next to Moylan I wouldn't want Nicho to go into his shell expecting Mozza to create all the line breaks and flashy passes ect but I think Nicho would just stick to his natural game and continue to be a dangerous runner and passer of the ball

Who would be the tallest half in the comp I wonder.

Nicho at 6'2 (188cm) must be up there.

The true test for Nicho will be playing our structures with our players 1-17.
I think he went well in the All Stars game behind a beaten pack but I’d like to reserve full judgment until I see him playing in Sharks colours surrounded by only Sharks players.

what I did see, I liked.

Should be playing like Reynolds and digging into the line, it'd suit him and the team, but looked more like Chad 2.0 unfortunately.

Nicho looked an absolute natural. But you get the feelings he's just one of those footy players that'd sort any position he played in

Nicho kicking goals from the sideline easily / McInnes and Finucane killing it at training
