His defense is going to be a big help to us, really gets stuck into his tackles in the middle and doesn't bludge or leave it for a forward. Asset

Got his kicks away under pressure. Lovely pass for Nikora try
pretty sure I heard him say in an interview, since coming to sharks that one things he wants to improve on

He's thrown a few stray passes but he's such a quick learner I reckon they'll become fewer very quickly.

Great defender, and such a natural in attack, floating along the opposition's defence line, it's like he's surfing a wave.

In your head, rent free
he looked in cruise control, like a guy who just wanted to start then get off the field

he just oozes class when he gets involved

Watching the trial, this guy is going to be huge for us in attack I feel, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a fair few Nikora tries with Hynes doing a few clever inside balls to Nikora making an inside run. He could also do a few simple dummie & runs for himself &/or a few longer passes towards the edge. His long kicking game I thought was also pretty impressive tbh.

Yep when everything clicks into place he's going to be scary.

Needs to be in the 6 jersey.
To do that, we need a controlling half (ie 7) and Moylan’s not that guy.
Metcalf is green and off to the warriors, so why bother for 1 game.
Tricky needs to play as controlling half to allow Nicho to move to a running half role.

Trindall will come good. Just needs more time in the 7 jersey
Yep agree. Need to persist with him at 7 (if that's where Fitz thinks he is best).

To be fair we played very clunky and still only lost in final few mins. There are some good signs there but will take some time and patience.

The kick into the ingoal where he followed through and did the tackling himself, forcing the dropout, felt like a Steve Rogers type play when I was watching it.
Bit of an overdramatic imagination I know.

Yeah that sort of effort is inspiring, same with the early set where he did probably 4 tackles in a row and didn’t look for an excuse to drop back out of defence.

Also on the last play of the game he was wrapping around on the left hand side (drawing the defence), after being way over on the right edge two tackles before.

His VERY high workrate in attack and defence , does play into those defencive lapses.
He'll get the balance right and those lapses will decrease with time more game fitness and experience .
He will be FINE.

He still looks a bit uncertain out there. In saying that though he is setting up tries and looking dangerous when he runs the ball. The defence really sat off him yesterday. Hope we get him to 100% soon.

He mentioned this during the week and I think it's a big factor that will take him time to adjust and that's the defensive work he's not used to doing.

Last year he made 175 tackles ALL season.

He's already made 47 tackles after 2 games.

This team is going to be humming after rd 10 when he's used to that position more and the team knows it's systems better.
