with the rest of the team firing he wouldnt even need to do any defense from fullback.
definitely his best position, he was gunning it this season before he got injured.
he was almost(if not) worth a try a match easy, and we all know what woulda happened if we got 1 more try in most of our matches

fullback in attack-wing in defence?
i agree with white that he is less dangerous in structured positions-i def dont like the idea of him playing hooker.

my biggest concern is that the only bloke i have confidence in to catch the high ball is covell. and i think his lack of pure pace is the only thing stopping him from being a brilliant fullback. i have not seen either kearney or brown really be tested under the high ball. simmons is half decent under the high ball ,but seems to have lost a step in speed also, so i would count him out as the number 1. trial brown and kearney during the pre-season, give them plenty of bombs to de-fuse, and go with the man who produces the best form in the trials. i do agree though, that kearney needs to be in the side, and my 1 concern about playing him at hooker is all the tackling that he will have to do, and how the rest of his game is affected by that amount of defence. could tire him a bit, and make him less explosive with the ball.

my opinion.
there is no doubting covell.
brown is still unknown.(he's great and still improving!)
kearney has done the job(his injury in the last 1/2 of the year prob cost us finals-not taking anything away from the effort that was applied by those that were there)and he should be given the opportunity to prove that he has still got it.

my back 3

1 kearney
2 brown
5 covell

Simmons to center.

I didn't want him at fullback or on the wing however when he was moved to center I think Ricky found his position. If Karl is a pinch of the tallent everyone seems to think he is, he can have the other center and move Poms into the back row.

Well maybe that is how it will start out early in the season, but I doubt Poms will be moved into the forwards to make way for Simmons or Filiga.
