Thanks to the medicine I got at the hospital, my kidney stone appears to be behaving and symptoms were downgraded from acute pain to mild discomfort.

That treatment does come however with a somewhat unwanted side effect since it has led to a significant increase in my fart output.
Actually, I'm not merely farting, I'm bellowing. People can hear me arrive from a couple of blocks away.

While it did provide some fun early in a 'pull my finger' kind of way, needless to say that after a few days we've all grown weary of this age-old entertainment. I hardly find any solace in the fact I might have a future in 1920s music hall reenactments. At least 2 more weeks of this routine and I'll have to buy a new set of underwear for Christmas.

Of course, work is where I'm enjoying myself the most. Trying to stealthily hide a fart louder than a 787 before takeoff does offer some interesting challenges that, if I'm being honest, I have yet to master. Thankfully it's all noise and no smell, but I can't really blame anyone giving me a strange look.

I'm not entirely sure my current predicament is quite true to the 'holiday spirit', but it does offer some relief. Walking fart machine wasn't on my bucket list for 2024 though.

And who needs this, seriously?

* It is the off season indeed. *

As long as you are okay?

Evening lads,

i’m sitting here tonight trying as best I can to enjoy the Christmas period but I am finding it a tad difficult. On Christmas Eve, my wife who suffers from anxiety and depression, began to have symptoms of her anxiety returning. While she is normally used to this with the medication that she takes, this time it has not worked. For the past few days, her anxiety has been the worst I’ve ever seen.

She has not been able to eat properly or sleep and has wept uncontrollably for the past few days. She has had some awful thoughts and for the first time ever she’s admitted to me that the strongest of these thoughts is wanting to die. There is nothing that we know of that triggers all this, she holds a very responsible job as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of a major organisation. As you can imagine there is a lot of pressure in this job but she handles it brilliantly throughout the year. She does have some small periods of anxiety through the year but the medication she takes keeps it at bay.

Because most medical places have been closed, we have only been able to start to consult doctors today. Her GP sent her to Sutherland hospital today to get the help she needs and she has been admitted tonight.

This is all very scary at the moment as I said before this is the worst it has ever been. I know a lot of you on here aren't religious and that’s fair enough, but if you could send some positive vibes and prayers my way that would be wonderful.

Sending best wishes to you, your wife and the family Chad.

Hospital is the best place for her right now. Progress is slow with mental health, but hopefully you can connect with the right people and get the her moving in the right direction again.

Please don't forget to look after yourself too during this difficult time. Happy to chat any time if it will help decompress.

Thanks PS, especially the bold bit. While my wife is number one priority, I’ll make sure my son and I are good too.
It’s such a horrible disease, we both finished work last Friday so much looking forward to relaxing and enjoying ourselves. And this just struck out of the blue.

By looking after yourselves you allow your wife the capacity to focus on herself and feel less guilty in doing so. I really hope this all turns a brighter corner for you all soon.

All the best to you and your family mate.

My partner suffers from anxiety and depression as well. Not quite to the level that you have described but it's still tough.

It can be very difficult as a support person as well.

You can feel quite helpless. I also find that anything you say or do at times seems to make them feel worse.

Hang in there brother.
