1. He was outplaying them
2. He's not some random kid, he arguably is the clubs best half coming through the ranks … ever ? It looks like they both don't give a fk how they are playing now.
3.*He will @ the roosters because they've guaranteed him a spot

No way they’d be dumb enough to guarantee him a spot. The lam(b)s and Hastings are proof ‘you’re our guy’ exactly as long as it takes for a better option to appear. He’ll have been told they have a spot and they want him for it, but realistically he’ll have to earn it and they’ll play Latrell or Aubusson and anyone else there ahead of him if they think it gives them the best chance

What do you mean ... ?

If youre not willing to guarantee a player a spot when they are playing good, getting you results, apart of your future as JMO has stated and grown within in your own system then why would he stay, especially when you are watching the players that have been guaranteed your spot instead fk it all up.

Why would anyone want to stay if they aren’t guaranteed to be apart of your plans ?

Mate, where is anyone guaranteed anything? Flanno didn't guarantee us a thing by signing an extended contact, did he?

A lot of players are guaranteed starting spots/first preference in their contracts. It’s a fact and it’s very common... I have seen it myself.

and no unfortunately he didn’t

Maybe I’m naive but that’s plain wrong in my book. No one should be guaranteed anything.

It’s a sad indication of where our society is at the moment.

Hate this sense of entitlement that seems to exist these days.

Thinking he should be guaranteed a spot is the same **** attitude that is shown by not wanting to stick around and earn one.
And the same **** attitude Johnson needed to be hooked to shock him out of - he’s played much better since learning he wasn’t guaranteed a spot

If we guaranteed him a spot and he stunk it up for like 3 games we’d be calling for blood.

Na if he’s earned that guarantee he’s earned it if he plays sht that guarantee goes out the window... he hasn’t got that thought process of no matter how good I go these other two will still keep their spot which is probably what’s happened to him .. and fair play to him because he’s made an impression where as they haven’t this year.

SJ hasn’t earned it neither has Chad lately but now we’re stuck with those two regardless.

I can't buy anyone believing that these days. The handshake deal is dead... NRL is a boardroom run game and the sponsors are the shareholders. What they say goes and I'm sure the players understand that's the reality of it.

What? A guarantee you have to earn and lose if you don’t earn it? Then it’s just BS
Chad and Johnson have both made more of an impression on our and clubs MVP voting.

He’s literally just seen Johnson can be hooked for him.

He’s been the understudy for **** all games though. And Johnson got pulled from the field in one of those games. Not much more you can do.

Johnson is an international afterall. If he hasn’t earned a “guarantee” then neither has Flanno.

Well yeah.. who would guarantee you anything if your sht, you earn it and why would anyone honour that guarantee/first crack if you’re no longer the man for the job.. it’s not rocket science.

If Chad and SJ have made an impression on you as a half pairing this year then let’s just agree to disagree

I think we may have been able to hold onto him with the promise of a good old fashioned three way half-off during the pre-season.

Not many can resist the temptation of a good old half-off.

If he didn’t think he could beat out Chad for a spot pre-season then probably better off letting him go

1. He hasn’t played halfback, so there is no way to compare him with Chad. He’s been on par with Johnson in attack and superior in defence (except that 14 minute nightmare at hooker).

2. He isn’t the highest rated half to come through ever. Chad was rated about the same and other like Healey were rated highly too but now we have twitter and Facebook

3. Guarantees only last so long. He’ll get first crack, but losing 7 of their first 9 next year would change things quick smart

The football management of Cronulla needs to change.. when looking back over the last 6-7 years, we haven’t been able to hold down lots of our promising junior players, irrespective of the fact if they improved or were “local”
- Frizell
- Peachy
- Bird
- J. salmon
- Holmes
- Ramien
- Scott
Now Flanagan and potentially Brailey. The good clubs keep all the players they want. The club needs to get smart, play within the rules but find the loopholes that the big four obviously find (Roosters, Storm, Broncos, Souths).

Also, Bomber is obviously changing the style of footy the team is playing and it’s going to take time. The cracks in the team were starting to show in flannoball at the end of 2016 and it was obvious in both 2017 and 2018. I would have love to know Flanagan’s thoughts on how to fix it but we will never know.

We need to be patient and give it time. A top 4 finish every year is unattainable.

Just a food for thought,
Cheers!

Hold up... who gives a **** about any player we released before we won the grand final.

Frizell leaving allowed us to sign Clive Churchill medalist Luke Lewis.
Every choice made in the lead up to the grand final directly helped us get there and was not a mistake.

Of those players you have mentioned we only really lost out with Holmes and Frizell. Not much we could do in either situation. Holmes wanted to leave at any cost and Frizell, we had too many very good back rowers, one had to go and it happened to be him.

The rest have not done much. Maybe Scott but he’s out of the picture now and centre isn’t our problem.

Brailey can go, I’ll drive him to Newcastle. We’re keeping his far superior brother.

Flanno is a shame, but let’s see how it turns out.
