Didnt know TC was having those kind of problems. Feel so bad for the guy. And if we are potentially losing TC and Hughes then we need to sign somone and Morris is not bad.

GW, you say Buster might not be there next year even tho he has a contract. Is another club interested cos i'd be surprised if he just left considering his market value would be down after a quiet year and alcohol issues...

Agreed he is a lot better at hooker, than in the halves, Is Mike Monahan a option he would be great at hooker for us outside of that there isn't much on the market

I disagree with you all actually, as a hooker Morris played he best footy at Knights and Parra, he is not a half's *******, but as a hooker I think he goes a lot better. Hughes will not be there next year. and I highly doubt TC will be either, only because his knee is giving him grief.

Unfortunately for Tony, that is a big part why the last 3-4 weeks he has been in & out of the top side. When he plays PL, he only trains 3 times a week and then a game, at not as high intensity, but when he plays with the NRL squad he has to train 5 times or so a week, and his knee blows up, unfortunately a reflection of his HORRIFFIC injury. To add to this he also has a good paying job, that is VERY flexible with his footy committments, and he does not want to jeopardise this part of his life, if his knee is not up to it, and considering Sharks NRL won't invest 100-120k per year to keep him, so he doesn't have to work his other job.

As the De Gois thing above, people should think about the real stories before judging here, De Gois and TC.

As far Morris goes, tell me which other hooker is NRL standard on the market? I know he is not De Gois, but he is better then Hughes, younger and faster. Seu Seu 70% game time and Morris rotation, is not such a bad thing. But I totally agree he is ****house in the halves.

Plus as mentioned on other posts, I doubt Seymour will be a Shark 2010, so that option is thin too.

Unfortuantely guys recruitment has a few things to it, money, availability, and attraction to the players concerned, and ATM we are not an attractive brand.

Sad bout caine. But back on Morris, for hooker next season i think we should go big, or cheap utility and go with Seu Seu. And morris i would take as cheap option. Seu Seu ive been a big fan of since last season and i quite like the fact he comes of the bench. I think we should go big for Ian Henderson or Monahan if hes on the market most definently and lure them with MONEY. Because there isnt much else to go big for in the market that is better then what we already have.

GW said it all. I member at Parra he was great in hooker than they bought Piggy and he fell out of favour. If this is true about TC then A Morris and Seu Seu rotation would not bother me one bit.

I am hearing Monohan wants back to Aus, but he is asking excess of 350k, I would not pay that for him, I am hearing if they were willing to pay that, he would be here tomorrow.

Sullivan can't even make a bench spot for the Dogs, I would not bother.

I am shattered for TC myself, I really rate him, and when I heard the history behind it, I really felt for him.

Why not try for Michael Sullivan?

Yeah i have kept saying the same thing. I can see people saying he plays best of the bench as does Seu Seu and we need a dominant hooker. But still i'd like to see Seu Seu start and inject Sullivan to give speed and skill. I am surprised no one is looking at him, especially since our club has had him previously.

thats a bit harsh, they've got Ennis and it's pretty obvious this year they are set on giving games to the new recruits and I don't blame them.

Sullivan would be a starter in a lot of other teams

I will agree to disagree wih you mate, for the sake of an argument, he struggled to get a start last year in front of Hughes, that says it all.

Morris is likely a done deal within days.

Re John Morris: I just spoke with his brother in law and he thinks he is going to England next year but is finding out for sure keep an eye out for Narooma Sharky and see what he comes back with. He reckons he has watched all his games this year and he has been very solid and is in peak condition. I reckon Monahan would be good but at that price is too expensive.

he would be an ok signing, shame to hear what is happenning with TC.
I think seu seu is coming on in leaps and bounds he is very destructive around the ruck as showed last night with some good runs from dummy-half.
If we were to get john morris, he would have to be at 9 and of the bench.

it cant be true......... we dont need to sign a hooker!!!!!

Seu Seu gots legs!! playing with 2 hookers (2nd being either Caine or Huges) is a good strategy..... hooker fast becoming the most important position in the game!

Isn't Hughes retiring at the end of the year?

So we can stick with Caine and Seu Seu but Caine is carrying an injury...

I think we need another hooker regardless. I'd rather get Sullivan and worse case scenario he plays reggies for Sharks like he's doing for Bulldogs now. Best case scenario he plays NRL for Sharks and carves it up.

John Morris isn't a superstar, and most likely never will be. He has been a consistent first grader for many years now though. Every week he busts a gut and plays to the best of his ability. As others have said, he's not a half. But we'd be buying him to fill the hooking role when Corey Hughes retires. Seu Seu is not an 80 minute player and even if he was we'd still run a rotation I reckon. I think Cam Smith, Farah and Ennis are the only hookers who don't get rotated, and they're the top 3 in the game on big dollars so its no wonder.

Michael Monaghan left the NRL because he wanted to play 7 instead of 9. I can't see him coming back to play anywhere but in the halves. His asking price is up there too.

We're lacking quality in the 9 at the moment and funnily enough that quality will diminish further when Hughes is gone, as bad as he is. Morris is good enough and I'd imagine a economical option. I don't know of a better hooking option on the market for 2010.

Great White: Whats your thoughts on Judo from U20s? Is he any chance of stepping up? The very few U20s matches I've seen I've though he's done alright.

I would like to think that Joudo can step up and fill the role left by hughes, but its up to ricky to see if he is up to first grade standard.

Morris is a very good hooker but an averge half or 5/8. A Morris/Seu Seu combo would be pretty good.

Still think Ian Henderson would have been a fantastic option but obviously i realise its not as simple as that. But shouldnt say there arnt any better hookers on market. I rate henderson alot, remind me alot of De Gois as hes gritty and very fast around the ruck. And hes not Kiwi so hes not at all tied to playing for a hometown club.

well it sounds like we will be down in the hooking ranks next season so if there is nobody else then morris wouldnt be a bad signing. he is a better player than what he is showing at the moment at 5/8. he is a much better hooker. sheens has absolutely lost it, keeps using the same useless hacks and keeps morris in the halves. the tigers have got massive problems at the moment
