Yep. Exactly this. Watching Williams closely in the replay you could pick the exact moment he started struggling.
Running on ?

Haha for the second half maybe.
I think he should drop 5-7kg and become an edge player again. I don’t think he be an NRL middle under these new rules.

Yeah , I was only making a joke .
Was great reading minute by minute effort , so we could see the positives .
Cheers mate
You’re welcome mate. I’m glad someone else appreciates my Rugby League nerd-out sessions occasionally.

Loved it too mate & the one on Billy. Would only let me rep 1.
Seriously , I reckon if you did that for all 17 players at a club
The coaching staff could use that info as a referral , when assessing individual performances .
Would obviously take HEAPS of time , but quite useful I'd imagine rather just relying notes taken during a game and/or re-watching game tape
I'm assuming they have a team who does this already, using special software rather than just one bloke with two screens on his PC
I was thinking of doing Tolman, but if I do him I would have to do BHU and Woods too, since their minutes were similar.

You can tell Bomber is big on Stats in how is so quick to quote them in the post match presser.
Just did this for Billy so thought I'd do it for Williams too...
- Comes on to the field with ~12 minutes left in the first half, and with Ramien still having around 1 minute left in the sin bin. Sharks kick it out and Ramien comes back on not long after
- Next few minutes the action stays away from him, until the Sharks get a repeat set and he finally gets a hit up from a drop out about 3 minutes later. Knees + elbows + quick ptb
- He gets a second hit up on the same set. Knees + elbows + quick ptb
- With 6 minutes to go he covers a grubber in goal and saves a try
- Next set he takes a hit up. Knees + elbows + quick ptb (are you noticing a pattern here?)
- Sharks get another repeat set
- He takes another hit up. Knees + elbows + quick ptb... but the ref calls him back for walking off the mark (fair call imo)
- and yet another hit up on the same set. Knees + elbows + quick ptb. Sharks get another repeat set
- next set... another run, another quick ptb. Nikora drops it a couple of tackles later
- last two sets, Dragons ruck it up, then kick, then the penalty and field goal shots. No runs or tackles for Williams
***
At the end of first half he has played 12 minutes, but wasn't involved at all in the first 2 or last 2. In the 8 minutes in between the Sharks had the ball almost the whole time and he ran the ball 6 times for good yards and great play the balls (including the one that was called back).
Defensively: 12 minutes for 0 tackles and 0 misses
***
- Second half the Dragons kick off. Williams takes run #2. Another strong run and a quick ptb.
- At the end of the set Townsend kicks and Williams in three tackles the next set. The tackle-less streak is over at 13 minutes
- Next set he isn't involved in attack
- Dragons next set he makes 2 tackles
- Next set he isn't involved in attack
- Makes 2 good tackles in a row on the Dragons next possession
- Next Sharks possession he takes a run and gets turtled. Slow ptb
- Next Dragons set he makes 4 tackles in a row. He's starting to walk in defence
- Next set he makes 2 tackles in row and then lets Vaughan go through him like a turnstile
- No involvement on the next Sharks set, but chases the kick and is involved in the tackle
- Next Dragons set he is walking again in defence. Dragons get a set restart. Williams has a bad miss on Hunt but Dufty knocks on soon after
- Next Sharks possession he takes a run and gets turtled. Slow ptb
- Sharks kick again and Williams is involved in the tackle
- Tackle 4 the Dragons play the ball in the middle, the A defender on the left (Brailey) moves up and left but Williams stands still. He doesn't move up and doesn't shift across to cover the space. Dufty goes straight in to the hole Williams should be standing in and makes the Sharks look silly.
- One tackle after the kick off Williams is replaced by Woods
***
So... as per pretty much every game he plays, Williams is an attacking weapon with one of the best ptb's in the comp... but when he has to do a big defensive workload he gets tired very quickly, gets targeted, and he struggles.
First 13 minutes: 6 runs, 0 tackles, -0misses
Next 9 minutes: 1 run , 13 tackles, 0 misses
Then in his final 5 minutes he has one run where he gets turtled, makes one tackle, has Vaughan go through him, has Hunt go through him, and waves at Dufty while standing still
Williams is the poster child for the new rules. Big guy + fatigue = points.
really liking this guys hard and fast carries this season and the improved handling, he is busting into and through the line and he destroyed some ****s with his front on tackles
Growing into a good centre option
l
its mostly on the back of those charging energetic carries and improved handling and discipline
