Do they really? Shows my amount of interest for this tournament. Give me Test series or properly done tournaments (like the original 3 Nations or event the 4 nations although they were not without faults), but this ain't exactly must-watch RL.

The whole ‘Cup’ and ‘Bowl’ format hasn’t quite landed for mine, I understand why they did it and on paper, it was an ok concept, but I’d rather just add two more weeks onto the tournament and make it a 5 game 6 team round robin with a final.

Tonga’s absence has hurt, although its great for them they’re touring England instead.

I’m a bit dirty about Mal calling Val straight back into the kangaroos. A 1 game suspension then we just forget and forgive. Doesn’t really send a good message to the younger guys

He's served his time, don't know why he should be punished any further?

That seems to be the perspective taken by Mal, don’t agree with it though. A 1 game suspension for drugs only to be put straight back into the team. Mal talks a lot about having pride and respect for the Australian jersey. Not sure he’s deserving of it… I’d be making him earn that spot back.

I don't think it's up to the coach to determine if a player deserves more punishment that what's been given.

If a player is available and he's in the best 17, pick him.

Mal’s a man of culture though. He has plenty of choice to not include a dude who’s just been in trouble for drugs.

I’m happy for him to get another chance, but not so soon. If I had a bloke working for me who made me look bad, it’s one thing for him to take his punishment and move on… I just wouldn’t be taking him on any paid business trips anytime soon.

I'm not for one second condoning what Val did but I doubt any coach in the game leaves out a player once his punishment has been served.

I get where you're coming from with Mal, we all know what he did to Fifita. He definitely picks and chooses his moments.

I didn’t even think of Fifita. I’m just going to claim QLD favouritism and be done with it.

While we are on the international topic, my mum went to the Paul McCartney concert in Newcastle last night. She was in the nose bleeds. I wake up to a post from her, the damn near 70 year old lady jumped about 4 gates and suck past security and ended up in the front row right underneath him.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been as proud to call her my mum. 4ft nothing too 😂

I’m with you on this one Tatus.

it’s not a great look for the NRL even to allow Val to be part of this series.

Sorry HB but it was a piss weak suspension to start with, so I’d suggest a lot of peeps would have backed Mal had he chosen not to play him

I get where he’s coming from though. Bloke served his suspension… move forward.

Might look a little better if the suspension wasn’t only for 1 game.

Slipped right under their noses by the sound of things!

Rules for some isn't it. Especially from Mal supporting his brother in prison for murder...

Issue is that hasn't been applied in the past - although Sharks fans probably the only one's who care about that.

As for a pissweak punishment, it was a suspension and a fine but overall little more than a slap on the wrist. I get Barba tested positive to ASADA and Val just sent a photo nobody could prove was coke but the extent of the difference in consequences is pretty wild.

Yeah but from memory Mal left out player(s) in the past and took an all high at mighty road before.

This decision shits on his previous stance.
