Yeah with a population of 17,000, it's not surprising really.
Most of those guys are playing at least NSW/Qld Cup level though, so they shouldn't be that bad compared to PNG. Take out Lam and JDB and those squads are comparable on paper. I'd say the squad not having much time together is a factor too, rather than simply not having half-decent players.

It's a shame we won't get to see PNG play anyone a bit better though. I can't see Fiji giving them too much trouble.

Yeah I know but it's still an incredibly shallow pool to draw from.

The PNG population is 5.5m vs. Cook Islands of 17,000.

There’s a good chance Nicho gets a start next week, as the game is a dead rubber. Hopefully at halfback

Maybe it is just me but why didn’t all teams play every week for this series instead of fortnightly?

They play each other once for nothing then again for the final.

Do they really? Shows my amount of interest for this tournament. Give me Test series or properly done tournaments (like the original 3 Nations or event the 4 nations although they were not without faults), but this ain't exactly must-watch RL.

Samoa getting the red headed step-son treatment by Aus & NZ left those 2 facing off 2wks in a row apparently.

Aus v NZ should be a good match up but 2 in a row will dilute it.
