I agree with Messenger, I agree with Burge, I agree with Brown and I agree with Provan but I do not agree with Meninga. Way too soon for him.

I must go against the train of NRL hate on this one. Usually I'm right on the hate bandwagon.

I think they took the opportunity after taking control of the Immortals to finally rectify the injustice that was only considering 1945 onwards. How can you have an immortals concept of the sport and only ever consider half of it's history, absurd.

They absolutely had to fix that and they've done it in a one off. Props to them for that and risking the flak.

Up to 2 players doesn't necessarily mean they will add 2 players every 4 years.

I'd wait on the crucifixion just yet....

Yeah but I can't see a situation where they'll settle for less. Everyone will be pushing for their guy and they have a stack of good people to choose from. I can not see a situation where they'll say "we just decided one was enough this time".

Of course I probably should try to read up on whether there is a process to decide if they go one or two.

Well, he retired 24 years ago. I think that's longer than the originals?

No doubt Smivy will be in as soon as possible, 5 years after retirement or whatever it is.

Wally retired only 2 years before Mal, so is he in too early as well?

Anyway, the original concept was decided on because they wanted the judges to have seen the players play that they voted on. I don't might that concept tbh, but I understand why they wanted to "correct" the past.

5 was probably a bit much, I thought.

After they decided on the 3 pre-war guys, I thought they would only add 1 more.

I could say the real reason why I don't like Meninga as an immortal but everyone would get stuck into me and tell me to forget about things that are said in the past.

Agree SharkShocked.

How did they have a Dally M award for the best and fairest every year and not have the name sake listed as an immortal.
Common sense has finally prevailed and Dally Messenger is now on the list.

I don't have any issues with who they inducted last night, but yeah, I don't like this new timeframe they've introduced.

Should be alot more natural. If it doesn't happen for 10 years, than so be it.
