Your description of him on the field is spot on .
No idea who that is, but good read
Michael Wicks played in the ET/McGaw era, very hard nosed runner and strong player.
There was a game we had Parra on toast 1986 I think it was - where we scored 24 points in the first half with about 3 tries in 10 minutes.
From memory I think Wicks set one of those up with a beautiful inside pass when he was tackled.
This is the one where ET ran almost 90 metres and beat Sterling and Grothe on the way to the tryline.
Rex Mossop was the commentator.
Yep that was the one mate, and they were obviously a gun team.
Would love to be able to watch this game again.
Thanks mate, will definitely have a squizz later.
Just looked it up, it was 1987 actually.
Here is the link to the teams:

Chad, c'mon mate... how about crowd numbers, exact temperature it was at half time and the colour underpants you were wearing that day? I know it was one random game 34 years ago, but it's no excuse for being so vague
I remember another game way before that one where Rex didn't get too excited about Sharks tries.
This one was against Manly so I can understand why he was almost asleep.
It was an ancient game as Dave Chamberlain and Paul Khan were playing but essentially within the first ten minutes, Khan made a run just over half way on the ET stand side of the field and slipped an absolute pearler to Chamberlain who beat three Manly players on his way to the line. I was live at the game sitting in the Peter Burns stand and the roar from the crowd was deafening, everyone was up on their feet and applauding wildly.
Up 4-0 early against the dark enemy had us in raptures. On the TV that night, Rex's description of the try was monotone, didn't even know it was Chamberlain until he scored, it was totally underwhelming.
Typical Rex.
Anyway we missed the kick and Manly won the game 26-4. So much for that. Perhaps Rex knew what was coming.
