It's not the challenge; he's capable. It's the style of play I was referring to. They don't show much concern for defence
So are you saying let him have it easy in Flegg or saying carry him in first grade?

Rather than getting him jogging or on a bike during extra gym sessions they should get him a decent boxing coach.
He moves well enough when he is moving it's flat footed he seems to get destroyed, some extra teaching to stay light on his feet could be a big difference and if he is doing it moving around punching too will be good cardio also.
Can build in some reflex/reaction work too.
Twice in trials he was caught one out at marker and the hooker was long gone before he got moving to react.
Also as I have mentioned before our A defenders (NRL, Jets, Flegg or whatever) need to be awake to tighten up if any prop gets caught alone at marker, but especially someone like Pele.
Plodding along the rode on his feet or a bike won't help fix the fact that his biggest issue seems to be reacting when flat footed.
Obviously something like that is a bit of an investment in the player so you'd hope to retain him if it paid off.
Sometimes you've gotta spend money to make money, if I recall correctly part of how we got Jack Bird was promise to cover his arthritis medication as a club medical expense and that worked out well for us.
