Re: Pele I can 100% see him not starting behind two other guys with NRL experience who make more sense as starters, when Pele is a good fit for an impact bench role. If he can show deserves to start over them then good on him though.

Re: Mags you're probably right but based on that trial I'd have him behind Hamlin (who also has more top grade experience than Billy even if overseas)

Dillon isn't a Sharks contracted player and Vasquez isn't top 30 (or has he been upgraded)

The club is going to prioritise the development of a Top 30 player over the above. In saying that I do see Pele as that impact player atm so coming off the bench might be the best approach anyway.

Not sure what the relationship with the Jets exactly is, presumably they are not required to play Sharks top 30 players as starters to the detriment of their team.
Especially, as I said, I think it makes sense for Pele to play of the bench as low minute impacts is his best chance of playing NRL currently. Staring Pele just because he is a Sharks top 30 player I don't think happens. Probably does make sense Billy would start for Jets over Hamlin though, even if he is going good.

The Sharks don't have control over their position or their minutes, but they can say which grade they want them in. Everyone fights for a job.

There were plenty of examples in 2019 of Jets-contracted players being selected ahead of Sharks contracted players. Whether it was Garvey over Trindall, Lolo/Eastwood over Wilton, or Phillips/Evans over Ferris/Ronaldo. The Sharks send their players to where they want them, and then Matterson picks the 17 he wants from those guys.

Pele is eligible for Jersey Flegg, so he needs to prove he is better than those guys to earn a spot for the Jets. If he doesn't earn it - don't give it to him.

Six pages in six days for a bloke that I’m not sure will play first grade. Is that a record? Seriously it’s up to him to stop listening to outside noise and head down and bust his ass for next 12 months.
Hope he makes it.... I love the big boppers

Pretty down to earth guy. Not sure he’ll get a game till later in the year , if that, but he might just need to play some back to back footy.
I know he played Flegg the other week then in the trial. For his development I think he needs to play for the Jets.

Yeah I reckon he's a fair way off. So young though, plenty of time.

Yeah run him out for the Jets.
No point letting trampling flegglings hide the fact he has stuff he needs to work on

Just not sure NSW cup is where he'll learn to be a better defender...

Its exactly where he will learn. He played flegg the other week and scored 2 tries and had nearly 300m in 41 minutes.

Its not a challenge for him

Yep and he's no where near NRL level. Has to play for Jets.

And in addition to snows comment Pele also needs to learn in training with NRL squad and Jets is his opportunity to execute it.

It's not the challenge; he's capable. It's the style of play I was referring to. They don't show much concern for defence
