Surely Barca won’t let go of Umtiti, Rakitic and Dembele, yet still fork out 89mil to PSG whole also letting them take Griezmann off their hands. Player swaps aren’t even that common these days, let alone involving that many players.

Depends. If United’s deal is worth significantly more and he’s been promised a key role, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that a player would still pick United. Champions League or not. I hope Liverpool aren’t taking the same complacent attitude toward United that you are. That’s a good way to get bitten on the arse, United made the same mistake with City and Liverpool (when you guys had your mid table run) and look how it turned out. We got complacent and went backwards, while your blokes fixed yourselves. If the knobheads that run the club finally start seeing sense then it could easily be turned around, especially if Ed leaves the football department (the main problem IMO)

I’m not complacent, just saying why would a player join Utd at the moment over those other 3 mentioned. I would say the same thing if Liverpool were in Utd’s current position. Klopp, Guardiola and Pochettino are top 3 managers in the world right now.

In fact Liverpool had to make obscure signings that other top 4 clubs weren’t looking at to get back in the position we are (I.e. Mane, Salah, Wijnaldum, Robertson, Milner, Matip, etc..)
It was only after we made top 4 that we were able to attract the likes of VVD, Allison, Fabinho... that the other big clubs were most likely chasing!

And I gave you two good reasons:
1. More money.
2. Key role in the team, as opposed to rotation.
Champions League is a big arse carrot, but occasionally, some players might not see it as the be all and end all, especially if they’ve been offered more money and are sold on a vision of the club who convinced him they’ll be back playing UCL in one maybe two years. Not saying United are going to or Unites told him that, I’m just saying it’s not impossible for a player to turn down a UCL club if they think the other club will be back in the UCL in coming seasons. Yes it’ll be rare, but not impossible.
