Every CB is a level below VVD but I agree he isn’t worth that much. Maybe 50-60mil but no more. He would be definitely improve the defence of Utd a lot though. Hard to find a quality CB that makes a big impact, so when you do it’s best to just cough up. Everyone else was laughing at Liverpool when we paid 70mil for VVD but now it looks like a bargain.

Tbh it’s probably not a bad idea when you look at Klopp’s transfer record. Although Klopp also knows how to get the best out of them and have them playing to his system, identifying the right type of character that will fit in with change room, and buy into the team ethos, etc. It sounds cheesy but he doesn’t just want good footballers, he wants good people as well. Apparently the reason the Fekir deal fell through wasn’t because of his injury but because his brother (also his agent), asked for something more at the last minute.
Regarding Bergwijn, encouraging signs that Utd might actually be using their scouting department rather than just trying to sign big names.
