Alot of you are talking about hooker but I would say he has been brought on for cover in the halves. Nu playing in the hooking role would mean one less player to call upon for Maloney in Origin, Chad injury/form or whatever. Nice bonus that he can play at hooker if we are desperate.

We made finals with Robbo at halfback and Mortimer is miles ahead of Robbo in all aspects of playing 7 or 6 bar defense arguably.

As far as average players with retrospective potential go I think it's a solid signing

Agree, bit of a Johnnie Morris type, who went ok for us and saved a semi if I recall?

I think it's a good signing. Bound to have been cheap, a well of talent buried in there that we might be able to tap (seems to be what we're best at), experienced and solid competition for those depth/bench spots. At worst he'll help keep the young guys (and dare i say Chad?) on their toes, and at best might reclaim some form.

I remember him coming onto the scene a few years ago and felt for him a bit living up to the Mortimer name. He looked pretty OK briefly but it wasn't long before he was flitting from club to club.

I'm not holding out high hopes for him but there is some talent there somewhere. I'm happy to see him as back up.

Flanno himself has quoted Mortimer as a back up half. Good signing
His defence would be the issue. I don't think it is that far fetched that he can still make it.

I doubt he is first in line but I'll be watching him with interest next year.

The signing of Mortimer is on par with the signing of Tim Smith, Corey Hughes or Daniel Holdsworth.
Hopefully, he never gets out of the reserves. These 3 unfortunately did.

That is a painful group of names lol. I remember the near universal screams that Matt Prior was a bum a mere twelve months ago though.

He is back up and I look forward to seeing him have his shot.

I too wasn't too high on Prior. Happy to eat my words.
But Mortimer... It ain't easy to be excited about this signing. Depth they say. We'll see. ;)

Yeah, that one is pretty much a universal truth. He turned up and dropped the ball like he soap on his hands. It is very funny looking back.

Everyone loved eating humble pie watching him last year. You have to hand it to him.

The main difference was that they were all signed as top 17 players, well not sure on Holdsworth but Smth and Hughes were. Mortimer isn't ..he's a depth signing. Will people stop going on about this like he's going to be our starting halfback.
