He isn't the highest quality but will do a decent safe job. As long as he's cheap it's a good signing imo.

We will be running a two hooker rotation & chances are not all of Nu, Brailey & Cherrington will be up to it. There's even a chance two of them won't be, Mortimer provides a safe option should things not go to plan.

It also gives us more time to settle the young blokes in, Mortimer is quite a good defensive hooker so can play short stints in the most physical times & allow the others to be impact off the bench which is what Nu & Cherrington will be suited to (can't comment on Brailey haven't seen enough of him although I've been impressed with the limited amount I have).

The fact that we have signed him to me says we doubt all three of our current hookers will be able to handle first grade. With a two hooker rotation you really need a minimum of three solid options, this signing sures us up.

Mitch Brown over Val. Yes, was only for a week but possibly only because Brown had a shocker.

Flanno won't persist with a budding star if he isn't up to it. Look at Peachey/lichaa/Townsend. Flanno opted for solid and reliable when those guys let him down. If the young ones aren't getting it done by round 3or 4, History would say Mortimer will play in some capacity.

Not that I want that. At all.

yes we do you imbocile, nu brown and braily are on our roster

hence, mortimer wont be in the team when we have 2 better options at our disposal

hush up now

I'd be more offended if you could spell imbecile. :p

I was talking about Segyaro which you obviously think is still on the cards.

From page 2 of the Paulo thread

the difference is, your club was so crap he was a certified walk up starter

he would be 6/7th choice and nothing but depth for us

That depth signing who was our 6/7th option played 21 games for us this year. Maybe ease up on the 'nuffies' when they toy with the idea of Mortimer playing firsts.

Seems like a "bum on seat" type of signing for me.
Never been overly impressed by D Mortimer in the past.
Waste of coin IMHO.
Would rather have gone with Nu and one of Brailey or Cherrington

Alot of you are talking about hooker but I would say he has been brought on for cover in the halves. Nu playing in the hooking role would mean one less player to call upon for Maloney in Origin, Chad injury/form or whatever. Nice bonus that he can play at hooker if we are desperate.

We made finals with Robbo at halfback and Mortimer is miles ahead of Robbo in all aspects of playing 7 or 6 bar defense arguably.

As far as average players with retrospective potential go I think it's a solid signing
