It’s embarrassing. Every time it happens it takes me 2 games to get him to run the ball again. He thinks he will get in trouble if he bumps off tacklers.
The pros like Dale can understand the ****ery around the mixed messages but it must be rotten for kids. Coach, mum, dad, teammates, other parents all cheering my efforts but I'm in trouble?

100% the kids don’t want to feel like they have done the wrong thing. If the start feeling insecure about it they won’t wanna keep playing.

Dallas Johnson was on the panel? Crikey I thought if anyone would understand a head clash in rugby league it would be Dallas. The amount of time that lad spent in Disneyland during his career though I'm just impressed if he can still button his own shirt up.

He is probably is mounting a case against NRL so wanted to rid the term 'accident' from being a reasonable defence.

I bet the ex players are easily swayed by someone like Bellows, just use lots of big, fancy words the ex players have never heard before. Umm yeah, sure thing, Geoff

I'm still dumbfounded by this decision. Glad we fought it though. Shows how much the NRL have indeed lost the plot.

Teams will be coached now if you see someone running out of the line in defence just duck a bit and stay down.

This probably went against us:

“You will note that there is no referee report in front of you,” Finucane’s representative Nick Ghabar said.

“The referee saw this as nothing more than the head clash, which is an accepted risk of playing rugby league."

Panel looks at who the official was....
Yeah , the same referee didn't want to do anything when Mitchell broke Manu's jaw last year until the bunker stepped in so not sure talking about the referee's inaction supported our case.

Not the popular view on here but I think the MRC got it right last night - just don't initiate an extremely aggressive action at speed that has a very high chance of going wrong .

Maybe Finucane should ask Moylan about technique he used for the big hits he pulled off recently.

If the ref and the bunker got it so wrong and it is such a serious offense that attracts a 2 game ban, shouldn’t we ask a question or two to the ref and the bunker? Maybe they should have given statements last night too.

Maybe they need to be resting and taken to some seminars for a while.

If Dale originally gets charged with a grade 2, he could have plead guilty and only copped a 1 week ban.

It's like when you watch your dog do something that seems ridiculous to you but he's all in serious about it. If you try and wrap your head around understanding it you'll just confused yourself more. Smile, accept and move on.

I don't know about the NRL, but I recently had to read the QRL Judiciary document start to finish. For QRL it is possible to contest the grading AND get a discount for an early plea.

For my player it was a choice between...

Plead not guilty = 0 weeks or 3 weeks
Contest grading + early plea = 1 week or 3 weeks
Early plea = 2 weeks

Took the early plea.

*

If Dale had these options, contesting the grading and getting it down to the 1 week would have been a good outcome.

Next question... are we going to see every head clash penalised now? If a bad one is worth a grade 2 charge, shouldn't every single head clash be penalised?

From what I can see NRL is not that consistent. They seem to be looking at this week by week and they probably believe they survived this week. Next time it happens, precedent and all that does not mean much, they'll get in front of the cameras, do their little dance and spinning and say "it is different becasue the sun's reflection on the camera angles and the player's eyes was not the same" or some other BS and be done with it.

It looks like they have the "We are going to do whatever we like and you are going to like it" attitude.
