<EDIT>
THE Cronulla Sharks' new management has saved close to $300,000 by scrapping directors fees and all their lurks and perks. Last year, executive chairman Barry Pierce was paid $80,000 and the other seven directors picked up $10,000 each. When new chairman Damian Irvine took over with his revamped board late last year, a decision was made to scrap all fees, saving $150,000. They have also done away with the committee room at the back of the Ettingshausen grandstand, selling it to Harvey Norman Taren Point boss Alan Stephenson for $100,000 a year. Travelling interstate to away games is even a no-no these days for board members. Irvine goes to all interstate games but pays for his own flights and accommodation.
