Seriously SF, these people are obviously successful in the financial sector and have/do sit on boards. I am so glad that they are sitting on our board. Hell we needed some smarts. Business side sorted, but do they know footy ? Can a disgruntled player turn to those on the board and ask for advise on footy related issues ? Ask ones who have been there before, like in the days of sludge. Mate, you need the business heads as well as the old footy heads, the players can relate to these people. We need these people and that's why I've been so vocal for the inclusion of Greg Pierce in some form of administrive role. Yes the front office needs some adjustments.

I do think we need more balance, we've moved from one extreme (Barry Pierce, Steve Rogers etc) to the other. Not sure whether that's on the board or the executive team... really it just comes down to finding the right old players, don't want people who need the income or just want to gossip (no reference to any of the above). I am guessing (and this is a guess) that the tickets will change a bit for the election, hopefully a couple of well-credentialled greats might put their hand up too.

The lack of football nous on the Board is a fair point, but to be honest I would be happy with it being dominated by people who are financially skilled in our current state and on in to the future. I think if we did have a CEO, that's where the football knowledge ought to be starting to kick in. That said, my knowledge of business governance is pretty limited, so who knows!

One guy who I thought did a great job as CEO was Grant Mayer. He turned them around financially pretty substantially (including landing a pretty massive sponsorship from memory) and built a very strong playing and coaching group. And I would say Manly have got progressively weaker since his departure. Then again, he had the Penn/Delmage money behind him.

I dunno.

I've said it before, but I do think Greg Pierce would be a great asset on our board.

He has the player's nous as well as management experience.

Maybe someone you mentioned recently as well could fit in somewhere next year... John Lang.

Now we are getting somewhere SF. I suggested Greg Pierce because
1. He has chucked his hat in the ring
2. He appears to have the credentials
3. Sharks legend
4. Has the ability to engage the shire again to the sharks.

Johnny Lang, well all of the above.

Are you thinking as a Board member perhaps? It has a nice feel to it. I'm not sure he would have the knowledge or whether we'd have the coin to pay him to fill a CEO-type role.

He'd also make a pretty handy Recruitment/Football Operations Manager. But do we have the $s...

Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Well you'd have to think the Chairman has earned the right to stand unopposed.

I would also hope Craig Douglas, Jenny Reynolds and Denise Aldous retain their positions.

I think Ricky Surace has been happy to play a support role to the 'movers and shakers' on the board, and while he hasn't taken a headline role in the past two years, he has been a solid supporter of the directors who have moved the joint forward.

Paul Walker brings a solid connection to the wider footy community and shoud stay.

I am not sure what the intentions of Keith Ward, Jim Barnett and Greg Holland are, but I wouldn't personally lose any sleep if they chose to retire. This would allow some new blood to come on board while still maintaining the momentum and focus of a great group of people who have done so much for the club, with no personal financial gain.

My humble opinion only!

They're all up mate. It's notionally a 2-year term, although it can vary by a few months depending on when the AGM is called. Ideally I'd like to see some rotation introduced, so that every two years we elect half of the board to 4-year terms. Allows some stability.

LOL, plenty of people over the past two years have had a 'crack' at him, but I don't know too many who'd put their balls on the line and actually nominate.
