Who out of us hasn't been doing their bit to tell the ref to gettem onside?

Seriously though, embarrassed for themselves is possibly a bit rich. I usually think the atmosphere is good in my seat, but that has the benefit of some rebounding acoustics off the grandstand. Whilst the crowd could be better, the limited capacity and open-air layout do play a part in the volume.
Even before half the stadium got closed our fans are among the most subdued and quiet in the NRL and have been for years. Most of the people that go don’t seem to give two shits about the football and more interested in the social aspect of the night.

Its frankly embarrassing whenever I hear the opposition fans being louder then the locals.

Atmosphere of a Dressage event.

Tend to agree. I've been going there since the early 80s, the atmosphere has never been good.

Sounds like everyone at the ground sitting quietly thinking why don't these other ****s get louder

Unfortunately sounds like everyone in the habit of being quieter and take a concerted effort by a large group of regulars (or even better, a few groups around the stands) to try and correct that. Will take time.

I haven't actually watched a game at Shark Park for probably around 25 years so I'm hardly doing my part.

I always found the Sharks fans to be polite. Always found the atmosphere pleasant at Shark Park.

Haven't been there for about 20 years though.

At least we are not like Dragons Supporters - cheer your team when winning and boo your team when losing!

Nothing wrong with booing your own team if they need a right old kick up the arse. Sometimes these overpaid primma donnas need a reminder that they need to EARN their big money.

Notes from AGM -

Financial results are available online so won't cover but results achieved despite 50 % of potential hospitality revenue out of action

Directors who were up for reappointment uncontested.
Matthew McGrath now an appointed director as opposed to being an elected director

USA based Lucas Dorrell , brother of our US benefactor , has been appointed to Sharks Investment Committee

Long term tenant for 94 Cronulla St to be announced this week.

Sharks to open merchandise shop in Woolooware Bay centre near Woolworths - lease done 5+3 yrs.

Roof now on club , Drainage still to be connected
No handover date for fitout as yet

Cost -
Roof 4.5m
Facade 6.0m
Fitout 28.0 m

To be funded by CBA loan ( as yet undrawn ) & Cash but also Very hopeful (expecting) of getting some compensation from developer for the delay.

Ready to seek firm quotes for fitout - have been in constant contact with 3 candidates for an extended period .

Facade works expected in Aug - Dec period but subject to handover date.
Opening expected Early 2025 .

Parking - 100 spots allocated to club full time , 570 spots allocated to club on game day

New Club Deck will be used for hospitality revenue on game day

New entry to Pointsbet to be on eastern side of Family Hill

Resolutions approved re Life Membership including new category for Ex players .
Club to establish a hall of fame with committee chaired by Club Historian to nominate inductees. Unfortunately Buzz Rothfield included on committee .

In Football Meeting -

No football team related matters raised .

Main issues raised by members was the poor Game Day atmosphere & suggestions to improve . Apparently even some players has raised issues about lack of vocal support .

I was surprised no issues were raised in meeting about the long lines for a drink or a pee .
Nice.

Games at shark park have always been bland, crowd is way too docile or intoxicated.

Players could bring the crowd in the game abit more too though ; don’t think this squad has the right to complain with their average performances

Most are definitely there for the social. It's a pretty young crowd generally. I can't ever remember it being different, even with years between visits.

Tend to agree. I've been going there since the early 80s, the atmosphere has never been good.

Except that Storm game where Cam Smith got sent off , it was AWESOME !
I disagree with Wiz about Shark Park crowd being too intoxicated to shout out , that pitiful drink service and lines inhibit people having a few and cutting lose with the vocals at the game.
This is half the problem
There seems NO problems with crowds getting involved and vocal at OTHER grounds where the beers are free flowing

Thanks @Six Again , great summary, sounds like a mixture of good and bad, but all interesting.

Roof and facade have blown out even further, at least fit out the same at this stage. Glad to hear they are getting multiple quotes.

Sharks merchandise store is great, and will be good in keeping a relationship with Bay Central. I imagine not super expensive, as there are still some empty spots there, and every time I go it's still pretty quiet for now.
The merch store make a killing on game day! And hopefully free up space in stadium for other things

I fkn hate someone trying to entertain me pre game, shut up let me eat n drink talk to folks around me. Maybe trying to rev people up or engage them for too long. Seriously 10-15 before kickoff not waffling on for hour before hand.

0% of the crowd would be more vocal if they drank more?
I think having more available, more affordable, decent strength beer would kick the crowd volume up a bit, but comes with other issues.

When I got free tickets to the WWE a few weeks back I definitely lent on a few overpriced weak beers to help suspend the disbelief and get into it a bit more. Helped crowd in general were pretty into it.

If there were more loud (but well behaved) people because of beer, other people would likely get swept along with the noise a bit more and start to join in.
It doesn't have to be beer though, although if there was a simple cheap no risk solution to increase crowd engagement it'd be highly used at every ground for every sport.

Improve the game day experience and the crowd will be more vocal.

Hard to cheer when you're waiting in line for 10-20 minutes instead of watching the game.

I've been to games there when there's been no issues getting a beer, the atmosphere is no better.

I don't see many juiced up people at Matildas' games and the atmosphere there is awesome.

Booze absolutely gets people more "into it" no matter what "it" is. Our RSA laws make it taboo though.

Are you considering other factors though? If there are no beer lines there's usually a small crowd. Is there a bigger crowd at the matildas? I'm by no means saying the crowd is great, but I don't go and feel like the atmosphere is ****.
