I think Ricky's urging members to stick with the incumbants.

Well that comes a real surprise, I would have thought that Ricky would have been all in favour of getting rid of some of the dead wood, from what I understand that is something many supporters see as being long overdue.

I read somewhere this week that's he's backing them cause he wants to be sharks coach for longer than just two years.... back the board, they'll back him kina thing. dont know how true that is, but makes sense. besides, ricky's calling the shots with the current board anyway.

Well according to 195, Stevo has also declared his availability for the Greek rugby league side, however is he going to have the time to do both jobs?! :D

did you read the entire form when you became a member?

that form you put your mobile number on

it's also in the consitution regarding candidates during election time being privy to members info

and its the members who vote off on the constitution amendments in previous years - so there is the culprit

yep - the members of the club

the board and potential candidates are only operating within the governance agreed too by members

Sharkies board elections are on from now until Wednesday... Ive been getting SMS messages and letters from various candidates including former Shire mayor Kevin Schreiber and Brian Quinn.

Im going to vote today, but dont have a clue who to back?? Anyone know if there are any new faces up for election? I think Ricky's urging members to stick with the incumbants.

yes i got the same mms and letters most of the board members i have know
for years but i think we need to move on to a new board i think they should
only be allowed to stay in for three years at any one time as we need new idears to make our mighty club work for the long term.:)

Board under fire in Sharks election
By Josh Massoud

RUGBY league's battle of the ballot has shifted from Parramatta to Cronulla, with the long-serving board under fire from three contenders at next month's Sharkies Leagues Club election.

After the Eels incumbents were routed on the back of a $9.12 million loss last financial year, Cronulla's suits would be feeling nervous.

Two current sponsors - Damien Irvine and Ricky Surace - are challenging for spots on the nine-man board. Surace represents back-of-jersey sponsor B2B Commercial and is not satisfied with the state of affairs, despite the application for a $100 million development of Sharkies finally being presented to Sutherland council last month.

The other contender is Paul Walker, a former lower-grade coach who now works for the ARL.

At least one is guaranteed to win a place, with Frank Doran retiring for health reasons.

THE well-worn text message function on Brian Smith's mobile phone was working overtime after the 3P rebels overthrew the Parramatta board last Sunday night.

Within minutes of a verdict being announced, the former Eels coach sent a text to one of the rebels, which simply read, "F . . . ing Brilliant!". We gather Smith still harbours some bad blood after a decade at Parramatta, which culminated in his ugly sacking midway through 2006.

The individual vote count emphasised just how desperate Eels fans were for change. The lowest polling rebel (Joe Saad) scored 1611 votes - 536 more than the top incumbent (Ron Hilditch).

No. The board should have been cleaned out at the last elections but nothing happened. Cant see why the members will react any differently this time around. At least there will be one new face with Frank Doran quitting due to ill health. Slowly but surely the board will be turned over - but will it be too late?

regarding the election of the board, its prob a great idea, one person we do NOT want is anyone from the arl or arl dev, that is too much conflict of interest

arl & arl employees are generally inept, we dont need more incompetence at the mighty sharks, we need fresh people with some fresh new ideas to take us into the future

voting walker is a definite step backwards
