Based on his statement, it looks more like he was pushed.
Either way the timing is terrible.
Edit: and this is why the timing is terrible - https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...l/news-story/f98792ac7777ca9fe55821a82df7831e
The media are going to have a field day with this angle!

We finally get through into some clear air and hit the headlines again.

If he loves the club so much (and I don't doubt that) then he should have stuck around for another 6-12 months (unless there are contributing facts ie health reasons), If the board wanted him gone, then haven't they learnt anything? Again, to wait 6-12 months to let the dust settle then say, thanks but see ya Bazza!

I'm not too dirty on him for the self-reporting. I'll blame those responsible.

But apart from that he hasn't really been a success. Some of these sponsorship gaps probably should have been filled before this news even came out. We've known for a long time that deals were ending.

Hopefully the new guy will be ok.

he can hang around for the next 10 years if it takes us that long to get cap compliant - just stay $1 over the cap ;)

Didn't Barry try to resign late last year/ early this year. Sounds to me like he has bailed. If the club wanted him gone I doubt they'd want him sticking around doing anything revolving the business

No doubt buzz will spin it that's its 'a good guy turfed from the game'

Riccio just tweeted he offered his resignation in November and it was rejected so he could see the cap inquest through.

Didn’t have the fight to keep going it appears. Hopefully we’ll get someone better on board. All the best to Barry

Very ****ing ordinary from Baz.

I was all for the self-reporting but to not stick around and mop up the mess is very ordinary, on face value anyway.

yeh he ****in bailed

i got no issues with him self reporting

but being a ****ing pussy after it is hat pisses me off

Yes, but if he doesn't think he's the man for the job then it's probably for the best. Especially if he's having trouble getting sponsors. Some people just have more of a knack for that type of thing.
