Are there any english coaches who could do the job ?

EDIT: Could probably get any coach out of the newcastle local league or group 21 up here that would be better than this fool.

What happened to Tony Herman. Seamed to do a good job with the Storks.

ATM my choice of those available would be Kevin Walters.

Matt Elliott is absoluelty awful. Much, much, much worse than Flano.

We have a winner , with Potter and/or Shepard as his assistant .
Price is poo too .
CLOSE Thread .

Why?

Brown is a chance. I'm not convinced he would really buy into the Club though. Very St George. Also been sounded out for other, more glamourous roles. Certainly someone to check out though.

He would love an NRL gig and mates of mine have had friendly banter with him whilst in the area .
He's not full of Sharks hatred .
He would do well with our squad

Here are some names:

Garth Brennan. Ex Newcastle NYC, current Panthers reserves coach. Narrowly missed the Newcastle job to Stone. Super record in the lower grades over the last few years.

Terry Matterson. Current Titans assistant. Has been an assistant for a long time and coached Castleford for an extended period in the ESL. Rated highly by Bennett. Somewhat similar in resume and demeanour to Brad Arthur.

Jason Demetriou. Current assistant at the Cowboys. Won everything there was to win with the Pride last year in the Qld Cup. Also the Qld Residents coach. A journeyman player and started coaching young in England soon after he retired. It might be a bit early for him but I really think he's a gem. Well spoken, passionate, friendly type who coaches a tough but open brand of footy. Think Graham Murray.

I don't think we need to go for a proven failure. I would entertain the possibility of Sheens if there was a succession plan in place. Brown would have to be considered but really its time for fresh blood.

Would he rather wait for the St George, Manly or Melbourne gigs to come up?

I agree that he's astute and probably the most obvious 'good fit'.

Hard to say AB , BUT If we're 0/10 and he got the right offer .
and management was keen to build for our 50th year, you never know .
Must admit you've compiled an interesting talented coaching crew yourself .
Who would you prefer ?

I don't know to be honest. I'd love to be on tge interview panel! Haha. I actually think we have an attractive list - some great raw young talent and plenty of salary cap space to some some recruiting for next year.

What I would really like is a clean out of pretty much the entire football department except perhaps the medical and sports science guys that have just started and who seem to have solid resumes. The Club needs a more modern, holistic approach to the athletes they employ and care for. That goes for education, welfare, fitness, skills, mentality and of course, game plan and on field performance. That probably needs to be lead by a football manager (most likely someone from outside the NRL) but the Head Coach would have to buy in.

I agree that Brown looks the best fit but I want someone who is in it for the long haul. If that's a younger coach then so be it and we provide him with someone like Sheens or Smith to bounce ideas off in a consultant role.

Jim Dymock and Brett Kimmorley in a joint Head Coach Role.
Jimmy for our "D", attitude and commitment and BK for our attack and kicking (and halves development).

Brian Smith to get rid of the deadwood as director of coaching.

Ah! Jim Dymock! Good suggestion. Slipped my mind. I was pretty high on him last year when this topic came up.

Another experienced assistant and someone who has had a taste of the big time.

Not.sold.on Noddy though.
