We need a good sports psychologist more than anything else.

Potter as Coach, Sheens as Co- ordinator

So we're gonna pay out one head coach AND employ two others?

How bout just sign someone we think can do the job and let him get on with it. We need a football manager more than a babysitter for a new coach.

I'd take a garden variety clin psych. I'm genuinely concerned about the mental health of some of our players.

But yes, any new football dept regime should have impoving the psychological health and fitness of our entire roster as a core focus.

Personally think there is a lot more wrong with the club at the moment then just the head coach although he is a big part of the problem. We need a complete review and revamp of our retention and recruitment and our junior development pathways. Mooney is not cut out for the job of recruiter and we don't seem to have anyone out there scouting the talent.

So I would get Brian Smith in to do the review and revamp with input into player retention/recruitment. Newcastle and the roosters both had him do a clean out and look at them now. He knows how to get a good team of youth together he just can't get them over the line.

You then have Nathan Brown who has won a couple of comps over in ESL, and there are also a few other good coaches (AB mentioned them) who with Brian's help could really turn us around.

Oh and also with Brian here Gallen wouldn't be.

First on the lounge should be Flanno himself.

I haven't heard someone say this around here in a while but a few seasons ago it used to come up every week...

I agree btw

Flanno needs something more drastic - like shock therapy, attached to his ball sack

So the majority seem to want flanno gone but the biggest issue is the payout. Is there anyway we could get around this by changing his role as opposed to getting rid of him all together?

I'm not sure how it would work in regard to contacts but could the board tell him there is no longer a role for him as head coach but they will honor his contract in another role such as a recruitment manager.
That way he kind of saves face, keeps a job, and we get to benefit from what he's good at. Put a team under him and have recruitment decisions made in conjunction with him, New coach and Lyall.
We can even throw in a man managing role as he's a real nice guy.

In your head, rent free
coaching options, tim sheens, laurie daley, Nathan brown, noddy, Anthony griffin

but none of them will do anything until the deadwood is cleared.

I am adamant that Brian Smith needs to be eomployed for 24 months in the same role that gus has and clear the club of the dead wood, the liars and the rest of the cancer that has infiltrated this club.

I think that's exactly what we need, Brian Smith or not we need someone to come and put a broom through the place.

Well put hamsy44 we do have some big problems in all of our football management areas and it is now deeply entrenched I also fully agree we need someone proven in being able to overview the whole structure who can get us results. The problem is now probably becoming to big for a single coach unless we can find a proven winner elsewhere or...... our fortunes suddenly turn around and we start winning

I have no real problem with Smith or Sheens or if he became available Gus. We can't afford to continue with a few minor exceptions as we have over the last 8 to 10 years.. No Club can.

This. The mindset of the players and staff is screwed.

Given how much effort and emphasis is placed on physical preparation, it seems odd so little emphasis is placed on mental preparation.

The players are playing not to lose and ironically it is exactly what happens. This grind **** is based on fear. It is clear the coach learnt nothing from his sabbatical. Taking penalty goals reinforces the lack of belief in their ability to score points.

The team that played without fear and with total commitment in the 9s bears no resemblance to the over structured rabble running around now. They play in a straight jacket and clearly have no confidence. They say teams play in the image of their coach, well this team is risk averse, shows no awareness, doesn't back themselves. A lot like .......
