Now, in regards to Trindall not being as good as the other halves, don't forget he has been on our bench and extended bench for a while. So he must be doing something to impress the coaching team.

Who else can back up our halves? Think it's more a case of being the only pie left at the servo... Any other time you wouldn't choose it, you wouldn't touch it, but it's 2am...

But then why choose it?
Why is he there? To cover Brailey?

He can also cover the halves. so three out of 4 spine positions.
And a lot better than Nene or Pele can. Even ignoring the fact there was very little to choose from to give him a bench jersey the fact he gets very little minutes suggests they aren't very confident in him being an improvement over anyone.

Yeah but isn't that just a waste? If you're not going to play him either at all or for longer than 5 minutes, then there is no use. It is obvious that he is there for the halves, as Moylan was there for the halves a few times. I do believe they are confident in him, but don't know what to do with him.

If not, then take him out and give a young forward a go

Who?

Last week Nene, Jensen, Paterson, Dugan and Pele were the only other Sharks players who were available and did not play.

Pele is not ready. Nobody else is a running forward.

Another forward would have been great last week - but if Rudolf, Williams and Nikora are falling off tackles for fun it’s probably not the best situation for Pele. He gets exposed in NSW Cup. What do you reckon the Panthers would have done to him?

Pele for 10-15 mins is better than Trindall doing nothing.

Isn't it also a waste to give 'a young forward a go' if they also have no confidence in him, as demonstrated by him not being selected behind a utility player ?
We are picking through the dregs of our list here for some of these games, whoever it is won't get **** all if any minutes so you just pick whichever one covers best if something goes wrong.

Sure - why not make it 72-0 instead of 48-0.

There is a lot of hype around Pele, but remember that he was discovered, developed and signed under the old rules, and added to the top 30 before he had ever played a game under the new ones. He has played less than 10 games under the new rules, and has played only 67 minutes against men.

He’s huge and tough to stop, but defensively he is a long way off. It’s still quite possible that he never even becomes an NRL player.

100%. If we had a pack full of Gun Defenders, sure ease him in, to see. But at present, and what has been observed, no way.

Doesn't matter at this point if Trindall is worse than Chad - give him game time and back him to turn that around. If he can't then we know we don't need to bother with him and at worst if he stays on as depth he has more experience under his belt and a clearer picture of what he has to work on

We are already pretty much at rock bottom, we can't get much more embarrassing. our coach and club are on the sniff if they think this shambles is playing finals footy. We are going to lose a stack more games this season regardless of who we run out Chad or not

Who cares if incumbents don't traditionally get dropped after signing elsewhere, we don't have to follow that like it's some rule - I thought we were supposed to be about planning for future success?

Yet to hear a reason why Chad staying in the team helps us going into the following season

Frankly I don't give a **** if we drop mozza, SJ, Chad whatever - anyone not in our plans / team for 2022 can sit out , oh wait thats what mozza & SJ do half the time anyway lol

So your saying 48-0 keeps our dignity your kidding yourself, we’re at a rebuilding stage now sad to say but that’s where we are at.

Blood in these young guns who supposedly have all this potential and hype, what do we got to lose?? A few more points against us?

Got to start thinking long term not short term.

As long as you are treating all of the departing players the same, I don’t see an issue with this logic. You may piss off some managers along the way though, and that list of departing players may include Trindall.

My argument is that if this is the direction you decide, you talk to the players in question and give them the opportunity to go elsewhere before 1 August.

Also note that Connor Tracey is the only Sharks player who can play in the halves who is both eligible to play in the NRL before June 30, and has a contract for next year (unless you count Wade Graham).

There's hardly hype around Trindall.

I think there's a footballer in him though, there's absolutely no harm in getting a good look at him. Particularly given how dire the halves situation is looking for next year.

I’m very curious to see how he’d go alongside a fit Shaun Johnson, even if it’s for a few games to see if it works. I know Brayden hasn’t exactly set the world on fire yet but I still think he’s worth giving another chance to.

Think there is one game of this, him and (good form) SJ beat the Broncos last year. Game Ferris scored.
Trindall has no line breaks or line break assists and only kicked twice. Defence also not great.

I get what you guys are saying but I really think the answer is give him consistent time in cup to build some form and decide if he deserves runs in first grade or not. I don't like just moving him there cold 'just in case' he plays good
